I have been doing a 2.5 Conversion, made a video, unfortunately didn’t put the phone sideways but it came up ok, it’s in 3 parts.
Will hopefully start on the cam swap soon.

That’s what’s missing, a good vid of how to do it in the real world. Look forward to part 2

Have you joined the Facebook "NC MX5 2.5 Club"?
Some really good information on that page.

Silly me - I didn't realise NC engines are Ford motors.

What am I missing? The only other vids on Lou’s channel are unrelated to the engine swap?

youre missing 2 other videos.

if lou teaches you how to transplant an engine....perhaps you should teach him how to make those other videos more visible.

just dig a little further down in his channel. they are there. 8)

I struggle with the Youtube thing too, I will just do a quick one for the pulley refit, might be a while before I get around to the cam swap.

Probably, google shows a couple at least.

Biggest issue is that unlike a B6 to BP swap where a whole lot stays lines up, with the MZR pretty much nothing does, even stuff as simple as exhaust and intake being on opposite sides to the B series.

If you wanted a 2 litre (without boring out a BP) it's probably a bit simpler to go for an F series engine, probably the FE-DOHC (FE3 colloquially)
Intake/exhaust on same sides, MX5 gearbox I believe can fit if you use a B series ute, or E series Van bellhousing (or 929, but they were auto only)

But, you're still stuck with custom sump, and probably having to do something about the subframe.
Plus, the F engines are physically taller than a B engine, so you'll probably need to have a small bonnet hump or something to clear.

I mean I quite like the 2.5 im our mazda 3.

but yea....you may as well then do a far more serious engine if you have to go to the trouble of all that.
or just turbo

Just weld up the rear doors in the Mazda 3, cut the roof off and voila......you've ruined a Mazda 3.
