Nothing a hammer could not replicate...

I did have a chip with a small crack at one edge once, and was told by the windscreen guy at the time that it wasn't enough to warrant a replacement, but if the crack "happened" to get any bigger it would need replacing ( all the time hinting at how this might happen). Went home that night, grabbed a towel and placed a little bit of pressure on the screen and hey presto, a 5cm crack appeared. next day back for a replacement :)

So, you've been happy with the BC coilovers then? What sort of spring rates are you running, or is it a secret :)

The BC's have been on the car since just after this thread started. The fronts were off the car for about 8 months when I snapped off the external canisters. I changed the position of the end link on the sway bar and it hit the canister... that sway bar in no longer on the car!

Spring rates, I have tried a few combinations (I have about 6 sets of springs on the shelf at home and looking to add a few more). At the moment it is running 11/7 from memory. Was thinking of going 12/6 but will wait till I have changed out the bushings, engine mounts and diff mounts.

I have asked for a copy of the BC ZR's shock plot to see what impact the 3 way adjustment has, plus I will wait till I have the travel sensors installed and look at the shock velocities before making the decision. I may even use ChassSim to make the decision on valving and spring rates.

Lots to do before October so I have put the new wing and paint on the back burner and will concentrate on getting the little things right before making massive changes.

Maybe you should wait before making any changes to springs and shock valving - the new bushes may have an impact on valving at least.

Not that I know anything about your new bushes ... 8)

I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

Mixed result from the Sun/Mon at QR...

Cold start to Monday

Photos from the 2 days https://www.facebook.com/pg/mx5na6/photos/?tab=album&album_id=763288230725645

Sun - General Practice/Street Sprints
National - 1:27.09 new PB. However, there was a very mixed bag of cars and skills in the group I was in, it was a very unusual mix. Further, some people have to understand what a RED light means...
Image
Sprint - 1:00.3574. Having 5 groups and 88 cars in total was never going to be 'fun'.

Mon - MX5/BMW Track day
Hopefully the T1-T3 track walk I hosted helped the people who attended. It was a shame it could not have been longer.
Clubman - 1:03.1373 new PB by almost 0.4sec!
Sprint - 0:59.8518 almost a PB :(

Image

Regularity - a burst fuel line ended my session early, the Haltech engine protection kicked in and saved the engine and possibly prevented a fire! It was a scary moment when I stopped (T3 on the national) and went to restart the car (did not know it was a burst fuel line). It was only after a crank that I realised as the display showed zero fuel pressure and there was a puddle of E85 forming. I grabbed the fire extinguisher and got out. It was at this moment that I was glad to have installed the fire suppression system! Towed back to the pits, fixed the fuel line and then went out in the next session, but managed only 3 laps because the car had a 'miss', so called it a day.

Haltech engine protection at work!

The car is off getting a health check to see if the fuel loss (and resulted lean condition) has caused any damage :(

The miss maybe caused by an electrical problem wherein as load increases the battery voltage drops. Whilst Haltech states the ECU can work down to 8.6v, the rest of the electrics (pumps, injectors, coils) may not be that tolerant.

Nice work on the PBs. Glad you didn't burn your car down, and engine protection management kicked int. That fire supression system is hopefully something you'll never need to use. Here's hoping the engine is OK.

How'd the new alignment feel?

I gotta get to the next club trackday!

The alignment felt very good, tyre temps in the pits also agree. Now to start the suspension changes...

Well done on the PBs, always satisfying to feel like you're making progress in the right direction. Fingers crossed that nothing got damaged.

Keep us posted on your schedule. Hopefully we can meet up at the track shortly.

Was looking to attend that day, but then the Time Attack round on the 9th came up, and decided to run that series instead.

I will not be home for the time attack series, however this event is more about seat time than points hence it fits in with my goals to get as much seat time as possible.

I'm also going to try and do some back to back testing with the AR-1's and AD08R's to see if there really is a difference...

What happened on Lap 9?
Did you miss Turn 2 and have to take the long way round?
Did you stop to take a wizz?

This is the difference between Lap 7 and 9.....

Actually, the 'real' story is I lifted off after T2 because of traffic, plus I let the tyres and everything cool down :)

Did I read somewhere that you were getting a heated windscreen for your car? If so, do you mind telling me who you were sourcing it from?
