Did you get a flex joint inserted into your exhaust where it broke?

Cheers Ned, the title of the thread probably doesn't help.. It makes just shy of 110rwkw. But hopefully I can bump that figure up a little with some headers, porting and more time tuning.

Bruce, I ended up just replacing the section of mild steel pipe from the collector to the cat converter with a new piece of stainless myself with my tig machine I had recently bought. The plan is to build some tubular headers and redo the lot in the future.

Cool. I'd luv to know how to weld. Problem is I'd probably set my garage on fire!

Same! so I bought one and have been learning via YouTube. The machine I got is pretty handy to with preset settings for different metals you just adjust the amperage to suit the size of the material your working with.

Another addition to the car was some new rubber to take down to winton for the Vic VS nsw challenge. I really wanted to get some Yokohama 050's but after the other purchases the budget just wasn't there. After running two sets of nitto's on the car now (great affordable r spec tyre) I took a gamble on the newish nankang ar1. Same size 225/45/15. I think they are slightly wider than the nitto's were.

Headed down to winton and did 3 dry sessions on the Friday before the event to try and road the tyres in and have a look at the track. Was hard to get a gauge on them being brand new and a porsche spewing oil around the whole track. Saturday morning I got two sessions before the rain first session was at 30psi hot and 2nd at around 25psi hot. Neither pressure seemed to get the tyre working. Although the 25psi was faster lapping mid 1.41s
Then the heavens opened and it absolutely bucketed down for the rest of the day. I switched to my re003 street tyres and wheels and ventured out fot my first wet ever wet weather track experience. The tyres were unreal in the wet and I managed to get the 4th fastest wet time of the day and felt I could have pushed more around the back of the track.

I'll save my opinion on the ar1 until I can get to SMSP or Wakefield where I have a benchmark on the Nitto tyre

Mx5 cup round 3 is a week away..
Getting pumped up for it but nervous at the same time!

I rolled the gaurds last week to help clearance the nankang that seem to be a little wider than the nitto's in the same size.
My Son didn't quite get it..

I also got onto installing aerocatch bonnet pins. Been putting off doing these for ages in fear of ruining my bonnet.
Measure, measure, measure... Cut a little, measure again. The first side took a while. The second side took around an hour once I had a clear game plan.

Need to look at getting the seat a little lower and replace the harness this week.
