Everyone comments on the car asking if its a rotary or a v8 or something.[/quote]

I'd love to see thier faces when you reply "it's just an NA 1.8".
The only thing i can think of that comes close is the garage hundred one 2.1 litre NA but it is a distant second place in terms of sound.

I had a very similar comment recently, my car sounds like a PP twin rotor. However one that I should not be 'proud of' but I am... "I'd say the loudest too lol, saw a young child start crying after you blasted past :D:D pretty quick for NA!" https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.2169527310002652&type=3&comment_id=2169556229999760&reply_comment_id=2170106303278086

I got the same thing with the racecar. Had someone excitedly come up to the group I was in and ask if we had seen the white MX5 with the rotary - after a moment's conversation I realised they were talking about my car - gotta love big very aggressive cams 8)

Sigh, I miss that car :(

My car is a way out of control with the super light flywheel, twin clutch combined with the crazy lumpy idle the car really gets a hunting forwards / backwards shimmy as I try to idle through the pits. The jerking movements quickly amplify until I'm rocking forwards and backwards in my seat and I have to step on the clutch to break it out of the cycle. Combined with the noise of the engine, and the whine from the dog box it makes the car look really wild... well it is I suppose. I've been meaning to retune the idle part of the ECU map but it's kinda fun being the most obnoxious noisy car in the pits.

I'm busy at the moment with a sculpture I'm installing, but I have a whole stack of changes planned for the car including a dual element rear wing that I'm going to 3D print, side skirts, sequential shifter, and more lightening. I'm now only 0.5 seconds off the under 2L lap record for Barbagallo so I want to crack that before I add a Rotrex for some more serious speed.

Yes, I can identify with the jerky low speed crawl in the pits.

Been following your progress on the sequential shift on MTnet - great work!

Care to share more info on the new wing?

I really have no designs yet... It will be pretty much the same as my current 3D printed wing, just bigger with dual elements. I need to decide on some profiles and then test the design and then hit the print button. Instead of 12 segments it will be 24 so it will take a month or so to print! I might even print it in a translucent colour just for fun.

I could go full bling and wire up some internal led lights, hook them up to my Race Capture so that it displays a colour representative of my delta time. Would look funky at night. Everyone would know if I'm setting PB sectors as the wing would glow purple. Whilst cool, it goes against my minimalist approach.

Man, a lit wing, signalling lap/sector times, that would be insane.  8) DO IT!

Wing sounds good, are there any of the APR dual element wings in WA that you can eye-ball?

Here is a 360 video from inside my car. There was a bit of oil on the left hander so I was around half a second off my PB but still just under 1 second off the U2L lap record. The car is running great, I still struggle with the gears sometimes, plus the gearing of the car doesn't really suit the track so I have to bounce off the limiter a bit.

This is a cracking thread. Any more updates on the car?
