I got the right hand one on today. No issues whatsoever. I will say that in my opinion, the 20Nm torque that is mentioned in the manual is way too loose. I went 40Nm. I’m no expert though.

Reading through the comments, particularly KevGoat's. Are both frame rail braces positioned evenly or is the passenger more forward than the driver's? I'm afraid that I'll accidentally position a bolt within the channel underneath the seats lol.

They should be positioned evenly. With the Flyin Miata rails that I recently installed you simply position them as far forward as they can go while still ensuring they remain flush to the floor plan. With the positioning of the bolt holes you get plenty of clearance away from the channels the seat rails bolt to and from the rear bulkhead.

As lucmor444 mentioned, fit them both evenly. I have no idea why mine ended up with one bolt inside that cross member - only happenned on the passenger side - the drivers side had plenty of clearance. Probably my own error somehow, but nothing I tried seemed to solve it. Didn't make it hard to tighten the bolt, but it shouldn't have happenned. From memory I finally lined both sides with a seam or something and they were pretty much as forward as they could go before fouling the "curve" of the frame.

All done with my set. Took me about two days to do. Alignment and measuring to ensure the bolts didn't end up in the seat mounting channel took up the most part of the first day. Used Rust Guard Epoxy Topcoat and Permatex Black silicone to seal and protect each hole.
- Car no longer feels unsettled on rough roads by which less harshness is transmitted into the chassis.
- Turn in seems to be sharper
- You can more distinctively feel each wheel absorbing bumps on the road
I no longer feel super paranoid going over larger speed humps. The piece of mind helps. Mind you my NB8B had perfect chassis rails before proceeding with this modification. Definitely a worthwhile mod.
Also, if you own an NB8B, you may have to lose a cross brace. I'll confirm this once I purchase longer bolts for mine to see if they line up with the frame rails on.

No local supplier at the moment that I'm aware of. Jass Performance is the current hot option, though there are several others such as Flyin Miata and V8 Roadsters.
These are on my list. But I've blown this years budget already, so maybe next year.

Can't find a separate thread for frame rail damage so I'll post this here as I was about to go down this path to fix my problem.
I did an incredibly stupid thing the other day and decided that jacking on the frame rail was a better idea than putting the trolley jack under the diff (in my defence...I am also working on an AU XR6 falcon with IRS...and with that you must not jack under the diff...so I got confused...and I had found a picture on the internet showing how to jack under the MX5 frame rail with a length of wood...but all that meant is I crushed a bigger section of the frame rail
So I was close to just belting it into shape and going down this Jass frame rail path for AU$325. Could see the added benefits to strengthening the chassis. Although I wasn't keen on drilling all those holes in the floorpan.
In the end I managed to find a good panel beater who repaired the crushed section to as new for $250. I went with that because it was the only damage to the rails on what is a low km very original car that I may end up having to sell in the near future. If I end up keeping it I think I will still go down this Jass frame rail path. After reading this thread I now see that some of the handling issues I have put up (skipping over bumps on bends) with will probably be resolved.
