2 events in the last 3 weeks . The club day at smsp south on the 24th of June and followed up by the club's Hillclimb event on the 9th of July.

The car ran well at south cct and I managed to sneak a few tenths off my best again but I think the nittos are starting to lose their grip a little after 3 years of motorsport.

The hillclimb was a fun event. I towed the car there and just used my street tyres. After the last track day I figured the nittos wouldn't have any heat in them by the end of a run. I made 5 runs. Started at a 61, then a 60, then a low 59, low 58, then a 57.4 I was getting faster with each run but then my exhaust system decided it had had enough and broke off the end of the headers. A real shame cause I was definitely faster again that run. Good thing I towed it there :|

The hillclimb was good fun and well ran by all the Hunter chapter volunteers. Hopefully I'll be able to get back up there later in the year

Have just read this thread. Awesome car. Really well done. Maybe one day, when I get sick of turbos, I'll do a 8B itb build much like yours! Keep posting video's! The more we can hear those noises, the better!

Had a quiet 2nd half of the year with not much until the 20th anniversary at Wakefield. Got the pitcrew into action
Image
Was pretty rusty for the first few sessions but managed to get back into the 1:09s before the end of the day.

Followed that up with a day on the gp circuit at smsp. Was a race car practice day so the company on track was interesting. From sport sedans and porsche cup carrera's to wtac and lemons cars.

For just a half day I managed 90 minutes on track. I haven't done that layout in over two years so by the time I started to remember where I skills be on track it was way to hot for fast times. Still managed to lap a 1:53.1 which was a Pb at least. The nittos are all but dead now so I'll be looking at some new rubber in the new year too

Might squeeze another day out of them yet

Cheers guys I'm on imgur now.

Also recently got my hands on a real cheap hardtop, One catch.... No rear window!
Image

I've stripped it Down ready to paint and then I'll get my hands on some lexan and make up a rear window. Was amazed by how much the factory catches weigh when I removed them.. Unsure whether I'll remove the softtop yet once it's finished and on the car

A little more progress lately in preparation to hopefully enter into the mx5cup series later this year. I installed a battery isolation switch and external pull cable into the car. I integrated the switch into the factory cup holder in the nb8b console so it's out of sight for normal driving duties.
Image
I also finished the hardtop by getting my hands on some 3mm lexan. I made up a template from cardboard and transferred it over onto the lexan. Installed a thin doorseal and bolted it down every 5 inches or so. Came out much better than I imagined. I've only plastidipped the hardtop so I'm not going to seal the edges with sikaflex just yet. Looks a little more rececarish now.

Also changed out the penrite 10 tenths oil for some nulon race oil in prep for the nsw v Vic mx5 challenge at winton.

Cars coming along nicely Dennis.
I'm starting to get into racing, big step from trackdays.

Hope to see you in the Cup soon.

Love the isolation switch although I wonder if someone else would find it during an incident at the track.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Cheers Matt :D very excited and nervous about putting my car on the grid!
Glad you asked Okibi. It has a pull cable that runs to just under the windscreen.. I just need to pick up a new sticker sheet to put the sticker below it on the bonnetImage

Also got a new lid and Hans device too! I've been wearing a motorcycle helmet since I started doing motorsport. The first thing I noticed is how much smaller the aperture of the helmet is. But once your in the car it makes no difference. Same goes with the Hans device.. As soon as the belts are on you forget all about it. Until you try to look over your shoulder to back out of the pit garage
