Can't believe it's been nearly 12 months since I posted in this thread. :shock:

I've had a huge year and the car has spent most of it parked under a car cover sadly. Last time I backed it out to take it for a drive, I noticed a small pool of gearbox oil on the ground, so I parked it up until I had a chance to look at it. That was probably about 6 months ago

I finally had some time to look at it over the weekend so I jumped in to back it around into the proper Garage, and predictably the battery was pretty flat. After jump starting it I got it up into the Garage and up on stands. Undid the under trays and gave the gearbox a good clean. Once I had I discovered the culprit....... a loose drain plug. :oops:

I can't believe I've put off looking at it for so long, for it just to be something so simple.

Anyways, drained the remaining fluid out, refilled it up with some new fluid and took it for a run. No other leaks so it looks like I'm back on track.

Hopefully buying some new rubber for the Adavnti Storm S1 wheels in the next couple of weeks, and then just to fit my Sparco seats I've had sitting in a box for nearly 18 months now. Then I'll just need a harness and a good going over before taking it out to the track for it's first run.

At least it was a cheap and easy fix and your caution avoided a more expensive problem.

Decided to repopulate this thread with images

Photos from the original sales advert.

First outing.

Second day of ownership, small paintless dent removal

First "roof down" run. Loved it

Followed by a spot of cleaning.

Day out at Tamborine Mountain.

Followed by another.

Bought some new Continentals for the standard SE rims.

Quick check over the engine before the run down to NitroDanns.

Safely arrived for the drop off.

Bought some Sparco Sprints to go in whilst away at Danns. Still not in unfortunately

Finally done at Danns and ready for collection.

MX5 run with Daffy and the gang.

Such a good colour, that Velocity Red. That was a fun run with Daffy, now that it's getting a little cooler I'd like to get out for a few more drives.

Yes mate, it was a good day out, and I need to do it again soon.

In other news, I finally got some tyres fitted to the 15 x 8 Advanti Storm S1 wheels, and picked up some 949 Racing wheel nuts at the same time. Bare rims weigh in at 5kgs, and with the 205/50/15 Yokohama AD08R tyres and wheel nuts they weigh in at 14.7kgs. In comparison, the 215/40/17 Continental tyres on the standard Racing Hart SE rims weigh in at 17.1kgs, so a saving of 2.4kgs per corner.

What a coincidence, I have a very similar package for my car coming next week :wink:

I plan to do the weigh in as well and see what the difference is.

Be sure to post your thoughts on the feel with the new combo.

I am looking to compete in the Street Class at Time Attack, so need to stick with a treadwear 140 or higher which rules out the AR-1 unfortunately. Was torn between the AD08R or Federal RS-RR in 205/50/15or the Hankook RS4 in 225/45/15, but decided to go with these and see what they're like. Especially if I decide to give the WTAC event a crack in 2019 ;)

Didn't even think to stop in and say hi whilst out that way, thought you were at work?

Went out to the Jap Nats at QR on Saturday and snapped a couple of photos whilst I was there. Unfortunately the weather wasn't conducive to having the top down.

One step closer to getting back out on the track

Thoughts on the wheel/tyre combo?

I'd like to do a few track days soon, but mine will be more along the lines of club days than Time Attack. I'm quite inexperienced when it comes to track work, I need to learn.
