Thanks, the wing bolts just under the 1/4 panel (the part where the bumper meets the panel) the bolts would be covered by the rear bumper if I had one on. That way you can take it off and not have holes visible in the rear 1/4. I will make a new one, but go straight up next time. Then I can run a wider wing.

Very smart! Will you be running at winton on the 14th of April with aroca/mx5 club? Would love to check the car out firsthand

Is that the Victoria vs NSW round? If so most likely. Oh, and it will be the fastest car there, I hope.

I am making some changes. Not a lot- built motor, turbo, diff, box, clutch, flywheel, suspension, aero, roof, boot and maybe the bonnet.

I decided to leave the car NA, it will end up being unreliable for endurance races unless I spend big dollars on more upgrades. So the turbo running gear will go back in the red NA.
Instead I will just do a new fastback in carbon fibre, and a new aero kit. Then throw some new R specs on. Should be good for a 1:49 or under at the island.

I have basically dedicated every night working on this car in the garage. It's getting an aero makeover. I entered the Vic time attack street class with the red NA, but there was too much work to get it ready (it would have been competitive). So I decided to do a bit of an upgrade on this car and enter in the modified class up against 1000kw skylines. At least I get to run R specs. There is no way I will be able to win, but I may as well see how fast I can get an MX5 to go with a stock 1.8l motor. I am aiming for a 1:48. The fastest cars will do a 1:35, so I am going to be way off the pace.

I traced the shape of the old splitter, and cut out a new one in a special lightweight plywood. The area on top of the undertray that sees no airflow got hit with the router to trim some weight out. I cut the bumper and added some alloy sheet to make the airdam and make the "ceiling" and after many many rivets it was done. The radiator is fully ducted with foam seals, so the small opening should be plenty.

The rear uprights/enplates are made in carbon fibre. I didn't take a pic yet. But it's the same size as the green outline. The wing is the full width of the car.

That front end is super aggressive!

If any consolation the car is going to look like it'll beat those 1000hp cars.
How wide was the old rear wing in comparison?

Awesome Dave
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Nice work. Really need to get my head around which cars you have and what you're doing with them these days. Lost touch a bit :)

Yes, it's a bit hard even for me to remember.
I painted some bits. Will take a pic when it's all together. But for now here are 2 pics.

The wing end plates are also a defacto sharkfin style.
