When i was popping the stock suspension back into my car for RWC, i pulled out the LCA bolt for one strut and found that some numpty in the past had crossthreaded and stripped the bolt (presumably just uggadugga'd it in when putting the coilovers on).
Now it is just this one in here:
Which given that it sits in a little cage, rather than being securely attached to the LCA is a pretty solid candidate for cross threading.
As you can see i already have a spare arm to put in (after some rust treatment). But wondering whether anyone cuts the stock nuts out and replaces them with a longer nut with more thread, or similar?
Or is it just a matter of replace when borked?

a second hand wishbone should be about $50... That's the observed standard going rate anyway.
Once you factor in time trying to repair it, but be easier to replace it.

Sure, but while i already have this replacement out of the vehicle it wouldnt be hard to do something with it.

Usually people just Chuck in a new control arm, faster and simpler than getting at the nut.
I have seen them welded though, which would be best imo since it stops the chances of the nut spreading he silly cage and just spinning in place.

Tempted to hit this with the MIG before it goes in. Would still be tight though.
I suspect that they have rattled in the wrong thread bolt too, as i read that there are two different M12 bolts used in the MX5 suspension.
Anyone know which one is the proper rear though? I suspect its M12x1.5.
