NB8B Rear wheel bearings

after many many stuggles with half shafts frozen in hubs I'm finally ready to replace the wheel bearings :roll:

Have shiny new ones from Mania ready to go in, but realised they have different seals - one side is metal, other is rubber. The ones that came out were metal on both.

Can anyone advise which side should be 'inside' the hub?

I assume it's metal side in so the hub seal has a surface to run on, and rubber out towards the wheel hub - but i've got a 50% chance of being wrong... or knowing me 100%..

Factory manual says install with the silver coloured oil seal on the inside.

the manuals i referred to just said “press bearing into hub”

Not a good manual! Actually the bearing is pressed into the knuckle, then the hub is pressed into the bearing.

I downloaded the factory manuals, or maybe found a link to them, from somewhere on this forum.
