No dash lights
For those that haven’t seen my garage thread, I’ve just finished rebuilding my NA.
I can’t get my dash lights to work. I have tried the following.
Fuses.
A different cluster.
I’ve cleaned & checked the connections & they appear to be correct.
The headlights, wipers, & indicators work.
The horn works, although I have had an intermittent earth problem that I think I’ve fixed.
There are these three plugs under the RH side that I can’t find a home for.
Other than that the cluster is plugged in correctly.
What have I missed?

Re: No dash lights
Dash is faulty return to previous owner (no refund).
Have you checked the bulbs, would be rare to have them all blown, but worth a try.
If you have no dimmer, then there should be a dummy plug in the end of connector. I'm home next weekend so will look for something on the shells wiring loom.

My NA8 has one, but trying to recall if my old NA6 definitely had one.

Re: No dash lights
Both my ADM NAs had a dimmer switch.

Re: No dash lights
A dimmer is an ADR on all Australian delivered cars (including Eunos - needs to be added if not fitted).

Re: No dash lights
Do your tail lights work?
I had the both dash and tail lights go on my NB and a relay under the bonnet is the culprit. (I'll try and remember to take some photos for the NB owners).
Here's a photo of the "TNS" relay on a miata, I expect the NA MX-5 is similar (my son is out so i can't check ours).
The horn relay looks like it is the same, so swap them over and see if you have dash lights (and no horn).

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Re: No dash lights
FWIW, in ADM NA8 there's only one LA10 horn relay under that black plastic cover near the wiper motor. Think ADM NA6 only had one or two LA10 relays in the same location.

It seems I was wrong about my horn working. It does sometimes, not others.
My taillights, numberplate lights both work.
I have three blanks where I’m guessing the dimmer should be.

Re: No dash lights
I’ve been tearing a bit more hair out with this issue today.
My horn works if I turn the wheel to the right or left, but not if it’s centred.
One dash light flicks on while the headlights are popping up but then turns off again.
The dimmer plug is bridged.
As far as I can tell all the earths are solid. The fuses are good.
Everything else on the car works.
My electrical know how is almost non existent so I’m clutching at straws, is there an earth in the steering column that I haven’t found maybe?

Re: No dash lights
After some googling...
Could be a faulty TNS relay (located in the engine bay on the fire wall). Apparently your tail lights won't work as well if it's knackered.
