Lug nut recommendations

Hi,
I have a set of fancy wheels (for me) on their way from Japan and wanted to know if there were any lug nut recommendations?

I want something that will:
    - Last a long time without cracking, flaking or rusting
    - Be black in colour
    - Have a little bit of extra length in case I use some small spacers in future (probably don’t need open end though)
    - Have a smaller socket/head size to reduce chance of damaging wheels by sockets (ie uses a smaller tool to remove)
    - Provide a high quality interface with the wheel so as to not damage the wheels
    - Lightweight is a bonus, but I’m not convinced about the long term durability of aluminium nuts
    - Not be too expensive (ie titanium)
    - Two piece to avoid wheels damage and better clamping??

I Don’t want spikes, fancy colours, or them to stick out heaps.

I have been liking the looks of the two piece McGard spline drive nuts but they seem to be hard to find a supplier, and I would like to know of other options.

In motor sports /racing, open end nuts are the go because you can instantly tell if you have a loose nut. The scruitenears look for this as a safety issue. Steel is better than aluminum.

If you're after something simple and decent looking consider the gktech lugs
Pros:
-cheap
-steel
-open ended

I run them myself and haven't had any issues on mine or my mates cars. For the price I don't think you can go wrong really.

JDMyard sell suitable wheel nuts for like $50. Black, open ended and steel. Also cheap.

949 racing here, cheap, strong (tempered alloy rather than just normal alu like a lot f others)

Had mine for years now with only minimal cosmetic wear (minor marks from the socket rubbing when I remove the nuts)

As far as the spacer thing, the but doesn't matter as much length wise, for safe spacers you'll be wanting longer wheel studs.

Does anyone do a security nut in the same style as the GkTech ones, long and open ended?

The Avanti Storm nut area is fairly shrouded, so need a narrow long nut, and the ARP wheel studs are too long for most security nuts.

I have been using these for almost 2 years now, light and have a floating collar.

I have been using the same 949 lug nuts since 2011... and I change may wheels a lot. Just this year they would have been changed more than 10 times already.

Mx5 mania only sell 949 in sets of 16! I have an NC = 5 stud :frown: but otherwise they seem ok

To be honest I’d prefer closed nuts. No track use for me and I’d rather protect the thread than get water and debris in there.
If I end up with open end I’ll probably try find some bung to cap the ends with.

I was so keen on McGards or even gorilla but after pricing them up on amazon I backed out :oops:

I have alloy wheel nuts that are open and the bloody mud wasps make a nest I there all the time. Sometimes they do it overnight after I was the cart before a club drive the next day.....
