Plan is to tap the CAS mount with a 12mm x 1 tap, however I did not have one at home, so tomorrow's job. Car will be off to plus for a post track service and inspection so I will get them to install the Hatlech hall effect sensor. This may work or it may not, it is a process of elimination. Interestingly the Haltech PS1000 defaults to using a pull up resistor on the trigger/home I wonder if this was disabled if the miss would still happen?

Will test it out at Morgan Park I guess.


Interestingly, I ran across this today, and remembered Mark's problems. Bit late for you Mark, but seems like there have been enough people having problems for someone to do something about it.

I am deeply suspicious that what looks like an OE sensor “modified to race quality specifications for improved durability & performance” is no more than an OE sensor with a DTM connector attached. There's nothing wrong with that as a concept, but the price is rather high!

Agreed. The sensor was not the problem though, it was the wiring on the connector plug, perhaps the plug itself (as I understand it). Replacing the factory connector would I think have addressed the issues experienced by Magpie unless the pins on the sensor were part of the problem.

Yep, agreed that it would most likely have fixed Magpie's problem. I'm really just having a dig at the vendor's vague but compelling description, coupled with the high price. 10 out of 10 for marketing :lol:

Car has found its new tuning home, Phantom Performance.

The plot will cause some comments, but I hate to say it this is more believable... Now Phantom use a roller dyno where as GT Auto used a hub dyno.

What Luke (Phantom) did say was that he did not need to talk to me about data analysis. He was also happy that he got the rear tyres up to 70°c. He also mentioned it was like sitting in a racing game with all the info available. The car also had a Haltech wideband installed and the tune now makes use of this, on a fault with the sensor it will default back to base tables. All up Luke was more than happy with the car and his tune.

First run for 2018, set a PB on the QR National, however gear selection issue cut short my afternoon session :(

In case a comment is made about the 86's overtaking 'event', the situation was caused by a car coming out of the pits and dropping straight onto the racing line. Dylan had no choice but to go on the outside as he was already committed to T1...


Had a nice spin at T6 as well, data shows that instead of 'driving' out of the spin I lifted off. If the car was in understeer lift off would have been the right thing to do, however lifting off when in oversteer just makes the spin more 'violent'... Another comment made was my approach into T6 was not straight, rather I was heading left (away from the turn) when I started to brake.

Had brake lock up so started to modulate the brakes. This washed a lot of speed off without flat spotting the tyres!

There is about 0.3 seconds between peak brake pressures. On the first press the car travelled 10.5 m and washed off 20kmh of speed.
It took 26.7m (0.817 seconds) to loose 40kmh (105 to 65)

So, what's the issue with the gear box? I keep seeing you've got issues but it's vague.

Vague because I'm unsure of the issue...

The 'hard' to change issue was there in December (last run) and would only happen towards the last session, however it would always go into gear... Hopefully it is just the slave/master that is the issue. There has also been an annoying very small oil leak, more than likely from the rear main seal. Since it is getting looked at I have asked them to remove the box (inspect), check the clutch (it has been in there 4 years) and do the rear main seal.

Hopefully there will be nothing wrong with the box, OEM parts for the 6 Speed are annoyingly expensive and hard to source.

Got it. I wasn't even aware of the symptoms, other than "gearbox issues". Hopefully it's easily sorted. General consensus is, it's easier and cheaper to replace the 6-speed gearbox than fix it.
