How old do you have to be to be too old for a sports car?

Depends on your back £ hipjoints for getting in & out

Emotionally, I'll NEVER be too old for a sports car - physically, probably got at least a decade up my sleeve.
The bit that worries me most is actual driving capacity. I see a lot of old folks (my age plus) who really aren't very competent and are a bit of a menace to everyone else. OK, I know that there is a proportion of every other age group that falls into that category too - I just don't want to be a member of that cohort.
I suppose being a very keen driver all my life means that have high expectations of my driving standards and it is a bitter pill to swallow as you get older to find that sometimes you can't meet those expectations.

Maybe a driverless sports car will keep us oldies going!

An in the meanwhile keep up the Fish oil and Glucosamine.
When you turn your car on, does it return the favour?

The MX-5 RF ltd Ed is a mere $55790 driveway. That is horrendously expensive for a little car with a pretty ordinary engine. The 2L really does not stack up on KW and the photo in the paper shows low rent black wheels- wonder if there is a choice.

Mine was $50k by the time I’d stopped adding stuff. But if I put the same stuff I’ve got on an LE (Eibachs, Camera, Parking Sensors, Tint, Paint Finish), I’d be over $58k, and that’s quite a lot.

plus you can shift if you choose to.

thats if the gearbox on the Mx5 is anything like the gearbox on the Astina SP25.

but for most peppes that also irrelevant.

Not sure about that, there is a ND automatic thats run up Collingrove Hillclimb here in SA, it has tried all sorts of launches
but the initial 25 meters is a lost cause compared to a manual

I just spent some time trying to improve the looks of the ND and after about an hours work what I had was an RX8.
I like the RX8 a lot - I'd have bought one if it had had a decent engine. Maybe the 2.3 litre four with a few tweaks.

I felt the same way about the RX8. The engine was the weak spot.

I think there's an off the shelf kit to swap an LS V8 in if you want.....

Not a modifier's bone in my body. I buy 'em in the spec I want and they stay that way until I sell them.
A new set of stiffer shocks or an uprated sway bar is really living dangerously for me.
I do feel a bit sad about the RX8 however as I liked everything about it apart from the motor. Those little doors were pure genius in a sports car.

A bit OT now...
Perhaps an MX5 NC subframe would bolt up to the RX8 chassis? Then use the 2.0 from the NC, or 2.3 or 2.5 with or without turbo. I do think about this from time to time. Most of the suspension components are the same between the 8 and the 5, so surely other bits might bolt up too. Shame about that Wankel engine. The RX8 could have been a really great 4 seater if it had been offered without a Wankel. Wankels should be reserved for actual sports cars where fuel and oil use doesn't matter so much. Like the MX5, for example. What about RX5 / MX8 engines swaps?

I loved the 13b in my old rx8. So revvy and had decent power. A dream to drive (though the mx5 has much better handling and feedback). Would love one in my mx5. The warmup procedure got a bit old but atleast mine was reliable for the few years i had it...
