Whenever I see Hoge's old ads, reminds me of the great, individual identity this country use to have, the identity that made me want to become a proud Ozzy citizen. Bit of a shame the country's lost that identity over time ....

Did some measurements today. I have a NB motor in a NA6 running Racing Beats headers, so keep this in context. You will need to check the clearance if you have a different setup. The drop mounts will sit the sump level with the subframe, however other parts may foul.

Hard to get it in perspective. This was with the level perpendicular to the centreline, resting on the subframe.

Put the level along the centreline of the car. With the level on the front sub frame and on the butterfly brace there looks like there will be about 10mm clearance. I swear that from where I was laying the caliper was in line with the top of the level...

I would guess that there is about 10mm clearance.

For those who are wondering who "Blackbird" are, Moti has been a strong contributor to the MX-5 / Miata community for many years.

If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Copy-paste of my response to Mark's FB post, just to clarify of lowering -
"We got almost 1/2" lower with the drop mounts compared to new factory mounts, so if yours are older and sagged 1/4" down already, you're only going to get another 1/4" lower, so I wouldn't worry too much at this point about the measurements there.
The sticky point is typically the header / downpipe, make sure you measure there.
The drop mounts set the bottom of the pan flush with the subframe -

Wow, talk about bringing stuff back from the dead!
I completely forgot that this ever happened 8)
Been a part of the Miata community since 2000, more actively so since 2001 when I started tracking my Miata...

Hi Moti,

Do you sell the hotside mount alone in the 'big bush' street edition?

I do not, nor do I feel that this is a good solution.
No offense of course, all in good spirit

Sorry mate, my thought process with regards to product development and reasoning isn't something I discuss on any forums.

That's your call of course, I respect that.

Well, with that said, Im pretty good with the "replace the one that breaks with one that doesn't" theory.

Looking at if the Blackbird engine mounts have made a difference. Thinking on a comment from The American about gear stick movement as an indication I had a look at recent videos from Morgan Park before and after the engine mount change. Morgan Park is a rough track so this will show both low and high speed velocities.
I really should get these videos onto You Tube for the people who do not like using Faceplant...

July 2017 - there is movement mainly in the gear stick when accelerating/lift off
https://www.facebook.com/mx5na6/videos/582293065491830/?t=65

July 2018 - the movement on acceleration/lift off is hardly even noticeable anymore.
https://www.facebook.com/teamracepak/videos/2134961560121097/

The seat of the pants tells me that yes there is an improvement in the car as the lap times are getting faster. In addition the faster laps are feeling a lot easier to achieve. Could be argued that this is more driver related than machine...
