lotus seat brackets

Hey.

I am placing an order to get a set of these.

From what I read he has got them sorted, low and gets the seat in the right position, which has been an issue for some.

We will get a small discount on the current price, which is about to go up as we speak.

The benefit will be group postage, hopefully saving each one of us.

I am not going to dilly dally, this order will be placed next week so if you are keen, send me a pm asap.

cost 320 ($US) per set plus postage costs. Postage is approx $100US for one set, so multiple sets will drop that down.

I like mine better as they allow for the angle to be adjusted. But still a work in progress.

I also note that the brackets in the post above are designed for left hand drive cars, as the right hand seat will be poorly aligned to the steering wheel with the symmetrical arrangement of the brackets, with only slight adjustment via the slots (if any available, as the rail gauge distance is different for left and right seats). The right hand seat in right hand drive cars needs to be offset on the rails significantly IMHO.

Also, the brackets in the post above will not allow the seat to be moved all the way back, with a significant gap behind the seat present in the most rearward seat position.

I have no intention of trying to make a profit from my design, just pointing out what I know (which is why I designed my own brackets and didn't buy the ones above).

Personally I'd wait for StillIC's bracket design to be finalised and throw money at him (probably best not to throw coins though, he may lose an eye).

One of the biggest issue with Lotus seats is getting the correct seat alignment with the pedals, otherwise the driver's legs need to be angled towards the pedals.

Unless they have a RHD car at Flipside Customs that they can test-fit their bracket on, I doubt that it will align correctly and will require modification.

You'd have better luck looking in the UK for a Lotus bracket for MX5s.

ManiacLachy's Brake Master Cylinder Brace is a classic example of what can go wrong when you buy a RHS product made in a LHD country, it missed by two thirds, they had nothing to test-fit it on.

That is a very important point made about the lhs driver setup from the states, something in my haste had overlooked... luckily stillIC is local so I can throw money from my balcony.

No pressure StillIC... ok, maybe a little bit.

FWIW, I have Flipside's on my seats and will be buying StilIC's brackets when they're available. Read into that what you will.

Flipside responded via email and acknowledged that they are built for LHD so fit may not be ideal for RHD... looking forward to StillIC's brackets!

I guess I need something to push me along. I would have had these done in September if it wasn't for my regular laser cutter frigging about, then me getting sidetracked. Now it is a new laser cutter recommended by a colleague doing similar. Small jobs always seem to get shafted.
