Race Seat on NB slide Rails

Postby Roadrunner » Thu Feb 01, 2018 10:26 pm

Is this even possible or do I need NA slide rails?

I have purchased a Cobra Monaco Sport with MX-5 base mounting adaptors.

When I removed the NB slide rails the seatbelt stalk is actually still attached to the rails (everyone said its mounted to the seat and I'd need an NA stalk bolted to the tunnel).
I can't seem to get the "mx-5 specific" adaptors to line up with the holes on the rails because the seatbelt stalk bracket pushes the adaptor plates across and foul on the outside carpet and the supplied bolts for the adaptors are fouling on the underside of the slide rail.

I'm assuming the "You'll need an NA stalk" is because you just can not use the NB slide rails?
I'm assuming NA slide rails are a direct fit to the NB floor bolt threads?

I found with most seats that yeah, the NB seatbelt is in the way, only one that it wasn't was some OBX bucket I had, but I still needed to bend the buckle for clearance.

I ended up buying an NA stalk and bolting to the tunnel (with a big spreader plate on the other side)

Then lopped the NB buckle off with a grinder.

Yeah I did. Turned out the adaptor plates I was sold were universal ones. Thankfully someone local to me had the correct ones that I could use to make a template.
Had to cut a good inch and a bit off each end and drill 2 holes in each plate.
Fits now with the seatbelt stalk in place but I do intend to bolt the stalk to the tunnel.
I’ll post a photo of them once I figure out a new hosting site since photobucket did what it did.
