those batteries.....i got ripped off in a big way.
tried putting the volt meter on it and be very single one was a dud
i rang them for a refund.....they refused.....Bastards!
they then had the nerve to suggest perhaps my phylophy of engine building may need revising. perhaps if i tried go put these dead Batteries on top of the cam followers & see what happens .....

so i tried it.
tmp_18360-20171029_1236121150725148.jpg

looks like that gap has reduced significantly....

still not convinced....

then I got bored....stole some of the neighbours kids playdough....
tmp_18360-20171029_123401979935269.jpg

checked the cams....in this case I was out with the timing. looks like once ive shave the head ill be interference.....i did it a few times....evetually got it right.

ill check it again once the shave is done & work out the limits of adjustment. good chance ill also grind off some of the valve indentation on the piston

I'm very interested to see the difference in acceleration. Who knows, maybe I'll sell my turbo kit and follow suit. I said maybe.
Last time you trailed me through the twisties it was like patchy was connected to my car with a tow rope and that was on your worn B6.
This will be very interesting indeed :)

your acceleration with turbo would be much harder than mine as you will have heaps more torque.

going around corners & accelerating would be more about the nutter behind the wheel .....as those who are mad & underpowrerd will most likely understand the concept of momentum....and they may appear to have a car far more powerful than is the reality. provided the geometry & rubber is the same in both cars

Nice work STM, I feel your pain!
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Its had a Hero shave. Lost 6.1 cc in the dome. Which equates to 1 extra point in the CR. This should bring it up to 10.5:1....or thatz what i understood when i was told.
So next is camshaft clearances. Although it clears. Its super close.
I need 1.6mm clearance.....its definately less than that.

Pretty fucken tight on the inside.

tmp_27767-20180203_143024700035792.jpg

You have to look at the lobe..... on the outside there is stacks of room.

So off i went to Bunnings....to get a steel burr.
tmp_27767-20180203_144500458704461.jpg

But its not giving me the desired result.
Its taking material off. Just not at the desired angle. THe angle needs to be a lot flatter.
Rather rjan say 45deg....needs to be more like 20 or 30 deg to prevent too much material being removed

tmp_27767-20180203_1445121555425573.jpg

Unsure how to proceed. I need more clearance. If the cam lobe is too close it will strip off the oil at high rpm. Danage the cams. ....migt see how a small angle grinder does the trick.
Any suggestions very welcomed

STM, I asked Lou how he did this for the fast road cams in his white Clubman a while back - he did it in situ using an air die grinder.

Ok. Ive got one of those...
Maybe the 20,000 rpm might make a difference..... and id hve to approach it from the middle rather than the top.
Ill try it.
