Hi guys,
Problem with a friends NA. The high beams come on when using the indicators. Any suggestions on where to start looking first?
Cheers

Re: High beams come on with indicators
Probably the combination indicator stalk thingy setup.
Basically the electronics/switches that live in the plastic shrouding around the steering wheel that the indicator and wiper stalks terminate into.
Had this same problem in my NA about 15 years ago. Solution was to replace the combination switch/mechanisms (at that time was part bought from Mazda and not cheap).
Subsequently have seen issues with the combination switches come up here a few times and it appears some of the issues can be fixed by cleaning/refurbing/fixing the contacts etc. on the combination switches yourself. You will need to search the forum for details or someone else who had fixed may chime in with more detail.

^+1 - think it was Rolley that posted a fix thread, but looked for it last time this came up & couldn't find it: search.php?keywords=stalk&terms=all&author=93_Clubman&sc=1&sf=all&sr=posts&sk=t&sd=d&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search
May be have a look on the big forum (Miata.net) - someone's bound to have done a write-up on it.

Re: High beams come on with indicators
I've heard / seen this before, my other na6 is starting to show its early symptoms of "high beam when activating the turn signals". I have heard of a fix for it regarding stripping it down & inspecting the guts & cleaning the switch contacts. (id probably only recommenced this if your mechanically minded if not just replace the combination switch.)Click this to go to ripdown tutorial
