This morning I finished the painting, & this time I nailed it. I’m happy enough to say that the painting is 100% complete.
So then I set about putting stuff back together. The headlight assemblies are back in place, as is the fuel cap. Floor carpet is in. So is the wiring & the heater box & fan motor. I have fitted the bootlid only to have somewhere to keep it.

Then I started on the left hand door. A while ago I grabbed a set door guides off Rolley, so it was time to fit them. But first I removed the regulator & channels gave them a good clean. There was so much old crappy grease in there. Then refit all the bits that came off the door, and fit the door to the car.

It’s been a huge day with some great progress.

I'm really impressed with your attention to detail, restoring everything as you go rather than rushing just to finish it.

It takes much longer to do it this way but is easier to do while everything is "out" - some of these jobs are just too much hassle to do later if you have to rip everything out again.

Looking forward to seeing it finished (if there's such a thing as a hobby that's ever "finished").

Oh sh*t!! I just realised I haven’t brought your body repair tools back yet. Do you need them soon, or should I bring them over in “Randy” when he is back on the road?

No hurry - great to see that they were used for something so worthwhile.

Paint looks great, love to see more shots.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

It’s starting to take shape.

In certain lights, imperfections are very noticeable. It turns out I haven’t nailed the bootlid. A bit disappointing but it is what it is.

It's a hell of a job you're doing mate. Could be very overwhelming but you're doing great. Colour looks awesome!

It's knowing you've even done those hidden parts that makes you feel good at the end ... you're doing a great job!! I bet most people won't even notice those little imperfections, but you're like me by sounds of it and they'll probably always continue to annoy you

Very overwhelming Lachy. I just hope the light at the end of the tunnel isn’t a train.
