PBR’s “RPM” clutch vs Exedy clutch

Postby Gladiator » Mon Jan 08, 2018 4:14 pm

I’m just about to buy a new clutch for my stock NA 1.6 & I’m after peoples experiences with either. Obviously Exedy is popular & has reputation. RPM is made by PBR who own Clutch Industries.

Price difference isn’t huge.
RPM - $200
Exedy - $235

Adverts for each in pics.

Thanks in advance.

If the price different were massive, I'd go for the PBR, they make good hydraulic brake components, so I can only assume they're also trying to do decent dry parts too.

However, for a $35 difference, I'd go the exedy, tried and true.

And will be 100x better than my old clutch (valeo)

I had a R1161N in my Astina that did 15,000km per year, including motorkhanas and sprints. BP engine with clutch plate LSD. Astina did another 100,000km before I retired it. The Astina weighted in at 1160kg, so should have no issues on a lighter NA6.

Hmmmm, interesting. I’m holding off buying until tomorrow, because I’m picking up a second hand, balanced lightened flywheel & clutch with apparently very little use. I’m buying the flywheel, if the clutch is any good it’s a bonus. The clutch has a green cover so I’m unsure of the brand. If it’s crap I’ll just buy a new one.

PBR’s “RPM” clutch vs Exedy clutch

I picked this up this morning. RPM clutch & lightened flywheel for $150 so I’m pretty happy. Clutch has heaps left too.

Without giving away to much personal details. Do you mind telling me whom you brought the flywheel and clutch off and what car is came out of.

PBR’s “RPM” clutch vs Exedy clutch

From an older English bloke. North side of Brisbane. He bought the red NA (white hard top) from NSW I think. He is supercharging it & the car will be dedicated track car.
That’s all I know.

I just thought I’d give an update. This RPM clutch feels really good. Only a couple of hundred ks in but so far so good.
