Anyone able to advise the correct festoon globe for the drivers side under dash light on a JDM 89 NA6?
I pulled the current one out and tried to match it but it seems to be smaller than anything any of the auto parts stores stock. Their smallest festoon globes any of them stock is 8mm x 28mm in 3W < http://www.narva.com.au/products/browse/festoon > but the removed globe is shorter than 28mm and is 5W - would be a pity to go lower wattage given the already lacking light produced...
Otherwise maybe an LED replacement globe?

I found LED bulbs on eBay, but it was a few years ago and I don’t remember the details. Much, much brighter than the incandescent bulbs but, if I was to do it again, I’d be on the lookout for LED units that have a warmer colour temp. The bluish output of the ones I have looks a bit out of sync with the instrument lighting, IMO.

You could check the owners manual- they usually list bulbs though maybe not enough info to identify it. The Narva listing looks like its covering the standards generally available- I have a Hella listing and its the same. You could perhaps check Mazda- I would not be surprised if the same interior light and festoon was carried thru up to NC. Festoons were not always a std product- Japan did use some different wattages in their home markets though dimensions - bases lengths etc are usually in line with used stds. There are guys around selling bulbs i.e. small specialist businesses - I see them at older car displays. If you can pick up the dimensions and any markings you might source it over the e mail etc- if its worth it.

I ended up adjusting the globe holder tab out and fitting the 28mm globe in. Fits perfectly now and will be easier to ever replace in the future being a standard stocked size.

I bought my globes from jaycar.

The 31 mm will fit. You will need to bend the contacts slightly. Been in place for over two years without a problem.

Re: 89 NA6 - drivers side under dash light - replacement globe
I blame this thread for reawakening my dissatisfaction with the blue tinge of my LED under dash lights
I went out this morning and bought a pair of warmer colour temp LEDs (4000K) and am really happy with the result. In the following pic, the old bulb is on the right, the new one (one of these http://www.supercheapauto.com.au/Product/Narva-Interior-Globe-LED-White/415040?menuFrom=1021670) on the left...
I also turned the housings around 180 degrees to get the bulbs up just that little bit higher.
