Nankang will like this! WHy did they go to a control tyre?

Wool tuft test on the GTC200. The flow separation around the mount is interesting.

Also did some testing on the vortex generators

Early Christmas present to me....

Have received some preliminary information on the next wing for the car... This was the reason for the above test :)

At 180 kmh there is 854 newtons of downforce for 0.03 cd. Or I can have 1984 newtons of downforce for 0.11 cd.

Modeling of the current wing suggests about 1,500 newtons at the same speed for a cd of 0.12.

Whilst on forced break from work will be making a wood/foam mock up to test fitment/placement. Hopefully will have a track test of V1 early 2018, pending this the final version (V2) will be tested hopefully mid 2018.

The bonus is it will be able to be swapped quickly between V1 and V2 depending on the rules the car is being run in.

To give an idea of size, have attached my old end plate over the new drawing.

Hey Mark, have had a wonderful early morning reading backwards through your thread to find info on your fuel system setup. I remembered reading about you swapping to a returnless style plumbing setup with the fpr integrated into the boot mounted surge tank combo but was trying to find out whether you'd installed a fuel damper on the fuel rail similar to later model mx5 returnless systems.
I thought I'd read somewhere you'd had minor issues with fuel pressure variances couldnt find the comments you'd made (i did get fairly well distracted with all the awesome vids to be truthful!).
Do you think it is necessary to add a pulsation damper to minimize pressure variances and have you installed one in your setup? I am still considering plumbing a returnless fuel setup similar to what Flyin Miata has available commercially.

Not yet, been debating but so far no big issues in the fuel system. If it was boosted I would definitely install a damper.

Thanks for the feedback on my thread!

Looks like a jam packed year, was great to meet you and your family in Melbourne. Thanks for sharing your build progress and your on track experiences.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Not for the first 6 months as I will be back to FIFO :( Will have to do more Lakeside now to keep the seat time up.

Looks like the first events for 2018 will be at Lakeside, first QR will not be till April :( Looks like I will miss the club events as well at the moment...

Started to mock up the swan neck mounts. The shell is proving to be a great investment.

Image

The final wing width is going to be about 1,700mm...
Image

Since the wing mounts will change decided to 'lighten' the shells boot, it lost almost 2kgs and now is pinned.
