Hi all
I dont have the manual for the NC transmisssion, so could someone let me know the torque setting for the drain and fill plugs?
I don’t want to strip the aluminium housings!

Re: NC trans plug torque setting?
its doubtful whether a mechanic would look up torque settings for a sump or gearbox plug and the rule is don't overtighten on these items- same goes for diff plugs. If they leak you can check if a plug needs a nip up or a faulty washer / seal. For an NB as a guide perhaps- plug is 25-39nm / 19-28 ft/lbs. The y also recommend applying sealant to threads. Diff on an NB is 40-53nm

Gregory's manual, for NA, NB & NC manual g/boxes, states:
Fill plug 19 to 28 ft lb
Drain plug 29 to 43 ft lb
Fill plug 19 to 28 ft lb
Drain plug 29 to 43 ft lb

Nip it tight with a new washer.
Never put the top up unless the storm has a name.

Re: NC trans plug torque setting?
I recommend using a 3 foot long breaker bar. Make sure to hang all your body weight off it when tightening it up.
Now being more serious, if you are changing transmission oil, surely you would already have changed engine oil in the past???
A lot of engine sumps are Aluminium or Alloy with a similar sized plug, so no different.
As most would say you can just do it by feel.
Feel free to use a torque bar as per the above recommendations.
I gather this means you did get a NC as well then.
