I am just home from the Targa High Country Tour. It has given me a taste of the sport and left me wanting to compete.

Mt Baw Baw Sprint – February
Lake Mountain Sprint – March
Snowy River Sprint – September
Great Tarmac rally -October

I have spoken to Peter Washington. He is keen to have MX-5s in the championship and will run a 'class within a class' for us if we can get a few entries.
Super Sports category under 2600cc suits MX-5s nicely and our class can be within that class.
You need a half cage, 5 or 6 point harnesses, helmets, Forward Head Restraints, 2 fire extinguishers, a hardtop and a resettable trip meter (Terratrip or equivalent).


From the 2017 Technical and Safety Regulations:
"Article 12 – Group 3 SS – Super Sports
General
Vehicles entered in SS category are to comply with Article 5 – All Vehicles - Compulsory Equipment
Except that:
A minimum of a AASA approved Type Half Safety Cage Structure or approved manufacturer fitted half
safety cage, and padding, that must comply with the requirements of the AASA NCRs.
The Safety Cage Structure may be of a bolt-in design.
An approved (FIA,SFI or similar) head and neck restraint system (HANS device)
is compulsory for both Driver and co-driver of SS vehicles.
Clothing for both driver and co-driver to be a minimum neck to ankle to wrist of non flammable material.
A minimum of AASA National Rally Licence is to be held by both driver and co-driver.
MAXIMUM SPEED
The maximum speed that any SS competitor can reach is 130km/h."

Peter is expecting the max' speed to increase to 140 kM/h for 2018
