How do I floor mount stock seats?
I'm a bit on the tall side and I'd like to get as low or lower to a sparco sprint v on stock rails in my na6 but with stock nb seats.
I've already performed a foamectomy on my na6 seats (by cutting out the hump) but I need to get lower for proper visibility out the front. Would also be good to see the top of the guages without ducking my head.
I'm not interested in cutting the floor.
Whatever I do, I need to be able to revert to stock if ever I sell the car.
Thanks!

I can't see you doing it safely. You'd have to reinforce the underside but then I still would not trust it.
Get a bigger (or much smaller) diameter steering wheel.

Re: How do I floor mount stock seats?
Thanks Bruce.
I should have said low mount but others (on here) have suggested floor mount.
The low mount utilizes factory rail mount points but I can't figure out how you'd get to the back mounting bolts with the seat in.
The only way i can think to do it with the low mount is to drill 4 holes big enough to fit a socket from under the car so I could bolt the seat to the mount from under the car and then fill those holes with rubber grommets.
Anyone done this?

Re: How do I floor mount stock seats?
Hi Speed.
I had a similar problem on my RX7 racing car and had no problem with drilling a couple of holes in the floor. CAMS have design guidelines in the manual which you can access online. I can understand you wanting to use the factory mounting points and keep them standard. What I did was to use a similar bracket to those in the pictures and bolt the seat to the bracket first using HT bolts. I drilled two holes in the bracket at the rear of the seat and welded HT bolts with over size washers, facing down. These need to be long enough to go through the floor and be able to accommodate a 5mm thick steel reinforcing bracket with washer and bolt. The reinforcing bracket needs to be at least 75mmx75mmx5mm but could be bigger for extra strength. See the CAMS Manual.
You will need to accurately measure and drill the two holes in the floor for the rear bolts. You can then drop the seat in using the accessible front mounting points and get under the car to fix the rear bolts, washer and bracket. Just be careful that there are no obstructions under the floor where you need to drill. You won't have an adjustable seat but if its for you only, it won't matter.

Thankyou The Zork.
I'm not sure what a Zork is but you've been very helpful.
Just so I understand correctly, the 2 bolts at the back have a nut under the car (with steel plate etc) ?

Re: RE: Re: How do I floor mount stock seats?
Thank you. I'm going to have to mock up something to see how low I can get before i drill. It seems so logical now. Really appreciate your repliesThe Zork wrote:Yes

Let us know how you get on. One further thing, you can use nuts as spacers on the rear bolts to adjust the tilt of the sear to suit. Just make sure the rear bolts are long enough before welding the bolts in.

Steve I Laser cut a heap of these brackets for MX-5 Mania.

I found that packing the front bolts worked for me, maybe do some experimentation before firing up the welding gear
I never met a horsepower I didn't like (thanks bwob)

Might not be related, but Zork was a text-based adventure game. I spent many hours playing this on my C-64 in 1984.
