Re: What have you done today/recently to your 5?
While I was overseas on holidays I dropped my car off with my brother who is an auto electrician. Here is the main result (he also regassed the a/c and some other electrical stuff).
I would have preferred the attachment screws to be in a different position but I wasn't around to check and I am still very happy with everything done.

They're all on the centre console, along with 'smoke' and 'machine guns'.

Now I am just getting plain silly (others may have more accurate descriptions). Swapped my black Rays wheel nuts for a mix of red ones.

Got some plumbing done on the electric water pump reverse flow system AKA 'madjak's coolant reroute'.
Also plumbed in the oil cooler and picked up the radiator after some welding mods performed by AWE engineering in Lismore.
I've been attempting to get the torsen in but stuck on removing the driveshafts. It ended up landing me in hospital overnight after throwing my back out once more.

Got some wiring done, noticed a dodgy hand brake line and replaced it. Swore a heap, lost some knuckle bark and got sick of it all and went and got my first tattoo.
All in all happy days!

Which side of the shafts are causing issues? Diff end or hub end?
Diff end just pull out, will take a little effort since you need to yank firmly enough to compress and pop the circlips, but you should he able to just use a long screwdriver to lever against the housing to help.
If its the hub end, they're a bastard if they've rusted in, and you basically need to resort to soaking the splines in penetrating oil and giving them a few belts with a hammer.

Re: What have you done today/recently to your 5?
It is the staked hub nuts giving issues. One shaft came out easily but left hand side hub nut will not budge. I tried a decejt length breaker bar with pipe extension, giving the hub nut a good whack while using breaker bar, the apllied heat and ice cube method etc.
The staked in piece had been completely dremelled away and i think i might just dremel the nut off. The shaft isn't needed being swapped out for the later NA8 7" diff type but the rear knuckles are the only piece i need preserve.even with mechanics gloves on i managed a number of very painful 'dermal modifications' that are making me not want to pick up the tools today.
The shaft will come out. Theres an angle grinder around here somewhere!

Installed a short shifter, fitted a rear spoiler, trying out some rim protectors (this wheel shown was my first attempt - not very happy with the cut I did for the join, my other goes were better and may still redo the first wheel) and can you see the new red bits?

Ooops - stuffed up my photos:)
Just turn your monitor, laptop or phone upside down - if that is too hard just stand on your head.

Bought a wideband o2 sensor and a standalone ecu.
Ecu needs to be send to adaptronic first for some work, but should return as a plugin ready to roll version.

Nice work. I haven’t been brave enough yet to get inside my doors (and I need to). What did you use to clean off the black sealant goop? I’m looking forward to seeing your new door cards, too, especially if they’re aftermarket.
