No say it isn't so, all that effort she deserves to be dríven so you can show off your handy work!
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

DAY 30 - 4 HOURS & APPROX 100 HOURS WORK ON THIS CAR TO DATE !!! so when some-one says it take 100 hours to do a spray job -I guess it does take that long as apart from one day when I had a visitor - I have not been sitting on am a$$

cut back the left side sill and door jams

Image

Image

then did a cut polish around the door handle hole and mirror housing etc-before fitting the hardware

Image

Image

re-dyed the passenger side door card

Image

Image

decided then I might cut back the bonnet or half of it

Image

rubbed it out with 2000 grit BUT I could see orange peel still in the paint. this bonnet was hung up to paint so was more difficult to paint than the rest of the car. so I did another wet sand with 1500 grit and then a re-cut

Image

worth the effort and I have a much better job

Image

better look at both sides of the bonnet

Image

day over. while were at it. if you decide to do some buffing MAKE SURE you remove your belt prior to starting the working in the area of the bonnet. leaning over the work area and a belt buckle don't mix.
not in my case I leant my lesson years ago-

DAY 31 - 1 hour

ive still got 2 weeks till rego inspection so time to think there

didn't do much today as actually tired of working on it. went for a bike ride instead. only on the bike no longer than 5 minutes when a 4ft brown slithered across my path. actually caught me a bit off guard too as I was with in second of touching it with the front wheel......medic!

just completed polishing the bonnet and front guard today. took roughly an hour

when I lifted the bonnet all looked good -

Image

except this! when the bonnet was hung it was hard to get the paint under those support braces. I could pass on it but I won't. I know its there so tomorrow I will decide if I will pull the bonnet or cover the car and spray  either way its going. apart from that small mishap - all good

Interesting difference in the two whites ... unless it's just the angle of light?

slight difference in the shades of the whites. remember too the mazda ONLY has a single 3" outlet exhaust while the ABARTH has duel 5" outlets - a genuine storm trooper!

when I was rubbing back the RED clear coat - naturally I scratched the left headlight

Image

rather than pay another $30 on one of those healight kits which don't work that good anyway I decided to first do a 800 wet rub left to right then finish off with the 2000

Image

after that a complete mask up

Image

I then mixed a bit of that highly expensive clear coat-the same stuff I painted over the red with some thinners and gave it 3 light coats - looks like it darkened it up somewhat. not sure how that happened at all. its getting late now so I will check it again tomorrow

it might work or it might not  but worth a try
