Ok. Good to know. I’m surprised that a dunny roll works better, but I’ll take your word for it.

I haven’t had the time I’d hoped to spend on the car so progress is slow.
Last week I managed to find time to apply some body filler to the few less than perfect areas, like the sill that was patch welded. Also the bootlid had several shallow dents about the size of a finger tip.

After sanding them all back, there were some bits I wasn’t happy with so I did it again.

The passenger side guard has a crack in the wheel arch. I suspect it happened when a previous owner rolled the guards. I was going to try to repair it, but I think it will just end up cracking my new paint. So I’ve decided to replace it.

I took a break from bodywork today to install frame rail braces. I only got the passenger side done though, because now it’s V8s time.

Very shiny. You can see my grinder in the reflection.

I got the second frame rail brace on today, & I’ve bought my paint. I’ve got a few night shifts now but it is definitely getting closer.

Ok, so today I finished sanding the body filler. I’m glad I didn’t have to use much. It really is an unpleasant job sanding it back & shaping it.

I decided to paint the headlight assemblies & brake master matt black. If I don’t like it it’s an easy fix later on.

I’m also planning on rubbing back the current primer today ready to finish the undercoating tomorrow.
Speaking of which, I scored myself a new (2nd hand) spraygun. It popped up for sale for $70 so pounced.

I do like a metallic brown. Add a gloss black hardtop and tough Japanese wheels and you're on a winner!

I agree mate, but a sort of glossy soft top will have to do I think.

It's getting there!
This stuff is much easier to sand than the regular stuff..you can get it at auto paint shops :)

Well it looks like my painting plans are on hold for a little while. I’ve got a deep cut in each fingertip. I was cutting herbs & missed.
