Help removing flasher relay from 99 NB

Postby celicapain » Wed Oct 11, 2017 11:34 pm

Howdy mx5 gurus.

I have a fairly simple problem, My 99 mx5 NB indicators have bleeped themselves and ive narrowed it down to the flasher unit-My issue is they I cant for the life of me figure out how to remove the flasher relay from the caddy it sits in under the dash-Im sure there is a push tab or something but my fat fingers cant find it!.
If anyone knows how to pulls it out it and can pass it on it would be much appreciated.

On my NB8A the flasher relay only had a slotted clip on the top, which held the relay onto a metal tab. (The tab only holds the relay so it doesn't hang loose under the dash, it doesn't actually clip it to the plug it anything)

The relay was just plugged into the plug base like normal, I don't recall any clips etc.

You can use a generic relay, but it won't have the clip on top. I just cable tied mine to the metal tab.
Just note that the generic relays are a lot quieter than the Mazda one, so you may no longer hear the tick-tick.
