Speed's boosted NA6

I like all your mods, you have done well. I sometimes want to have a completely stock NA, but then they look good with tasteful mods too. That's why I have 2 maybe.

Regards fitting the beanie and wastegate arm. I guess you have to cut a hole in the beanie and remove/refit the circlip?

Yes Bruce, exactly that.
The hole is tight and the beanie sits flat in that section to not catch on the wastegate arm.

So my SSB battery has been dying for a while now, to the point that it wont hold charge between weekends.

I checked out my local distributor and had a choice of paying more for an AGM Federal or getting the same vented SSB battery again.

I chose the cheaper SSB as it had a higher cranking rating, was lighter and lasted for 60 mins as opposed to 45. My last one also lasted 3 years which I figured was good enough for $139.

Since the battery was coming out I thought i may as well check the condition in that area, knowing the PO had the wrong type off battery when i first bought the car.

This is what it looked like!

So I hit it all with a wire brush, some drill attachments and sanded the rest.
Then vacuumed, cleaned and bathed it in rust converter overnight.

The next morning I wiped it down, masked primed and painted in matt black.

Drove the car today and absolutely swear that she runs and sounds smoother.
Perhaps the old battery was affecting more than just starting tge car.

Anyways very happy with the outcome

New knob. This one is taller.
I also greased up both balls on the short shifter. Seems to shift easier whilst sitting in my garage but the true test will be when I go for a spin tomorrow.

Also re-fitted my sparco as I was concerned that I'd smack my head on the roll bar.
