Finned cam cover?
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Also picked up a neat carbon lid from speed. The front, right hand corner had been cracked ever so slighlty from impact so i set about sanding back to the crack and using epoxy resin to fill in.
I'm still annoyed at e-go for that, especially after all the effort i went to packing wise to protect it in transit.

When the 4 lids were delivered from VIC, they had a thin sheet of foam and a layer of bubble wrap. Guess we were super lucky they weren't all smashed.
Your car is comming along nicely.
Really looking foward to seeing where it goes from here.

Grabbed one of the cleaners that Regie had for sale in...
http://www.aus-cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=75329#p917430
...and spent a little time cleaning the drain holes. It was clear, at least in my case, that the cleaner was not rigid enough in its native form to be coaxed through the drain hole. Easy solution was to entwine it with a coat hanger.

Leave the hook at the end because this makes it nice and easy to feed it up and down, but also to rotate it.

Down the hole she went.

Two goodly piles of dirt were cleaned out.

Now there is a nice lovely stream of water through each drain hole.

I'd put something like electrical tape over the end of the coat hanger so the sharp edge can't catch on anything when you pull it up.

Re: What have you done today/recently to your 5?
My NA came back from the bodyworks on Friday after a complete respray.
I spend Saturday cleaning out all the spray dust from inside, put the soft top back on and blacked the tyres.
On Saturday afternoon and Sunday I got to drive it again!

I just use this to clean the drains out on mine.

Cheap, plentiful, firm enough to push out clogs, flex enough to get through.
You can cut the end at an angle to make it have a point to push past thick junk, and being hollow you can blow down it with the air compressor or hose to really help loosen stuff.

I would have thought that overspray would not have been noticeable i.e. the idea is that its is masked properly. Guessing it was a white car to start with so did they spray under bonnet and boot? What paint do they use. Looks good.

I guess I called it the wrong thing. There was just a lot of dust in the car because it had been in the workshop for a long time, much of it without a top on. The bodyworks did a basic tidy up, but there was a lot left in the nooks and crannies. And the heater blower spread more around! It's pretty good now and the rest will come out over time.
There's no over spray anywhere that I can see, it was well masked.
The car has been repainted in its original colour using two-pack. Under the bonnet was fine, so it's original. We had to source a new bootlid because there were holes in the original from where a spoiler had been attached. The replacement bootlid was blue, so it was repainted all over.
When I got the car the paint was peeling off in places, was chalky and cracked in others. It's all been stripped off, minor dents repaired and repainted.
It's totally different now!

Removed the spare wheel, jack, and tools from the boot. Almost 12.5 kg all up, which handily offsets the 8+ kg added by a pair of frame rail braces.
Have ordered a Cargol emergency tyre repair kit to take the place of the items removed.

Thx - first time I have ever went for a personalised plate and perhaps it is a bit ostentatious but what the heck, its my mid life crisis. Those not in the know have asked if I'm into IT and ride BMXs!
