new springs for the high lift cams
Image

The original estimate foir the job was like 3 hrs.

then things escalated dramatically. I could get the old spring out. but couldn't get the new ones in.

ended up taking the head off.

Image

I had a spare head gasket. It ended up taking like 7-8 hrs..... If i didn't have the head gasket I guess I would have put the old springs back in.

new springs a 66 lbs ones. which are what was recommended by the cam manufacturer. No extra power realized at this moment....but it is a fraction smoother down low.

I only managed to get 2 springs in with the head attached to the motor. With the intake ones I just didn't have the right angle or strengths to get them in.

First spring installed with all the sticky engine assembly lube all over it.

I'm interested to hear how those Paco Strongarms go. They seem a little overkill compared to the other braces, but maybe they're worth it?

Wife's been nagging me to move the hardtop out of the spare room - it's only been sitting in there under sheets for two and a half years or so ... Decided to put it back on the car for now. Forgot how good these look with a hardtop fitted.

Gratuitous photo  ...

Yes they look good but i couldn't rationalize keeping mine when it spent so much time in our spare room.

Installed new locked-down mats from mania. Keep forgetting and go to adjust the mat constantly.

Also did the timing properly following my little saga with the CAS last month. Now set at 14°, was previously, um.. off the scale - literally.

Made up some new brake lines after finally sorting a decent double flare tool.
Never mind the upside down booster...all just mocked up for now.
Hope to drop in block over weekend..

Lowered engine and trans in to bay in one piece.
Plumbing and wiring in started.

Also picked up a neat carbon lid from speed The front, right hand corner had been cracked ever so slighlty from impact so i set about sanding back to the crack and using epoxy resin to fill in. An aesthetic repair at best , the plan is to spray the carbon finish with plastidip or such to tone it down a little.
Shame really as it is awesome in it's raw carbon cleared finish.
Will give the clear coat a touch up and show some pics.
