Sooty, the Brilliant Black NB8B

Postby Wilko53 » Mon May 29, 2017 1:03 am

And so another chapter begins as my Heritage meets this black beauty again. Little did she know there's only room for one MX-5 at home. She'll have to find another. Our 15 months together has reinvigorated my passion in driving and taken me on so many incredible runs with the club. 15,000 Km and every one has been an absolute pleasure. I have admired Rob Emmett's black NB8B from the Hunter Chapter since I parked next to it at last years President's Picnic. Our MX-5s even shared a motel carpark space at the NotMeet in Glen Innes over Easter.
Rob put his 5 up for sale earlier this week and my heart and my wallet said yes. Many thanks to Rob. I promise to take good care of her.
We have already been on our first run travelling up the CareFlight Charity Event at Wollombi. Although on road feel was noticeably different, I'm sure it wont be much longer before I become accustomed to the differences and Jinba Ittai will return.

The leather SE seats I bought from Boyracer were fitted this morning.

Within twelve hours of ownership, I was on my first club run with Sooty. The club's annual charity event to support Careflight was held in the historic Wollombi village at The Mulla Villa Guesthouse.

Notice the after-market day time running lights fitted by Rob Emmett, the previous owner and the head light shades.

I found a pair of replacement sun visors S/H on the 2nd June. I've never seen a mirror for the driver and NOT the passenger. It suits me though as I'm pretty vain.

On the 3rd June I found a good spot for a photo at SMSP during Round 3 of the MX-5 Cup.

I removed this luggage rack from my Heritage on the 5th June. Test fit was to get an idea of the look. It's now back on the Heritage. I may still buy another. I also fitted the front and rear reflectors that I had on the Heritage as well as the chrome fuel filler lid.
