Advanti Storm S1

Postby zacMX5aus » Wed Aug 02, 2017 10:19 pm

Hi all,

Been looking into Advanti Storm S1's for my NA6 and having some trouble understanding the go with what will fit without fender rolling. Goodwin racing say that 205/50 on 15/8+25 require slight fender roll and 225/45 on 15/9+35 also requires slight fender roll but also narrower shocks/coilovers. I've seen 15x9's with 225/45 fitted online without any fender mods though and wondered what other people have found to be the case.

Thanks in advance,

Zac

Obviously, it does depend on ride height, nominal vs actual tyre width etc, BUT, general rule of thumb is:

For an NA:
15x8 = guard roll required
15x9 = aggressive guard roll required

You wont get a 15x9 on an NA6 without rubbing unless you are running stock ride height, in which case, it will look stupid and the question then would by, WHY.

For example, my NA has 205/50 tyres on 15x8 +25 rims, it needed a guard roll to stop rubbing. That is a reasonably low street car with a small amount of negative camber.

As per beavis, you will need roll the guards to fit 205/50/15 on the 8" Advanti rims. I have these rims on my NA6.

I have Advanti Storms with 205/50 tyres under standard guards. The tyres are not even close to rubbing. However, I also have 3.7 degrees of negative camber at the front and 3.0 degrees at the back. Camber angle is a very important factor in determining clearance.

EDIT: Please note that the Advantis are only a 35 mm offset.

I'm assuming youre talking 15x9's with the 35mm offset. Do you have pictures of 205's on those rims, they must be stretched a fair bit :P

I love the look of the widers 9's but I think I'm leaning to the 15x8's for flexibility between the 205 and 225 tyres as well as slightly less work to fit them under the guards.

Where's the best place to go price wise? It seems like the advantis are way more expensive here than over in the states...

Why would you assume that? 9 inch rims are too wide for 205 tyres. In disagreement with above posters, small changes in rim width makes little difference to clearance if the tyre is the same size. So a 205 tyre on a 7 inch rim Vs and 8 inch rim has little affect on the tyre width at the outer circumference (where rubbing usually occurs, depending on ride height). Noting that, I have 7 inch rims. Of further note, my 205/50 Yokohama A050 tyres are 217 mm wide when measured on a 6.5 inch rim, a touch wider on a 7.
