the reason why many women ask the bloke to drive is because the male, especially if a car enthusiast ,has a tendency to criticise a womens driving technique. So it works quite well until the male gets too old or drinks too much and then the woman may not fancy driving "his" car. No guarantee that this is factually correct or appropriate in the age of increasing equality in all things ...

I just moped about looking all pitiful and sad that a used BMW 135i seemed like an indulgence as another car and SWMBO said; "look, you're a long time dead - if you want it, buy the bloody thing." So who was I to argue with that logic? Happy days.
