That is obvious now! Kept kidding myself for the past few years that it was a road car that could be used on the track.ManiacLachy wrote:It's a race car.

But now you need a road car for fun not-racing drives.

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
What about mountain runs with MX-5 buddies (like next weekend's SEQ run that Daffy is organising)? I know I'd miss cruising with the top down and a few friends if my car was a race car. Though I do get that that isn't the appeal of MX-5s for some.

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
Morgan Park went better than expected, still lots more time to be found and I'm doing my best to find it!
A few more small jobs ticked off. Still have to put wheels on it and take it out for a wash, maybe next weekend
Too many times in the past the front video camera has come loose from its suction caps and I end up with a bumpy video. There are 3 caps as well as a cable tie so no danger, just crap footage.
Plan was to use the rear view mirror as the mounting point.
Simple bracket

Mirror mount flattened and hole tapped.

Camera mounted. I could almost write another post on how difficult is when you take the mirror off. Suffice to say removing the glass makes the job easier. A heat gun helps as well...

Now to hard mount the OLED display (bottom left) as it has a tendency to also come loose from the suction caps.

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
Went under 60 on the sprint again today, managed a 0:59.9861 on the sprint in the afternoon with a 1:27.77:) Also managed to string together a few fast laps as well 1:00.4311 1:00.1918 1:00.1348.
It was a very 'difficult' general practice and street sprints today. In the sprints was dive bombed on T1 by a 'faster on the straight car' that then locked up in T1 attempting the 'overtake'. Further, there were a lot of people who were not watching their mirrors.
Anyway, the car ran well plus was thanked by a few other drivers for allowing them to follow me around the track. They were wrapped because they also did some PB's!
Chefie also set a PB. Had an interesting conversation that only a few years ago Chefie's car and my own were setting similar lap times.

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
I have entered:
11/09/17 - MX5 Club QR
14/09/17 - Time Attack QR
11/10/17 - Driving Events SMSP
Undecided
30/09/17 - Porsche Club Morgan Park
02/10/17 - SDT Morgan Park
I did manage a 49.875 on the DTC at Lakeside during the Interclub challenge. Had a ball, my aero is no use on this sort of event, neither is a booster less brake system Will try and do this again soon!

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
Just ditch the other two undecided events. Gives you a month between the qr race and WTAC to get the car and mind ready for the trip to sydney.

Re: The Roadster NA Journey Begins
Many thanks to Vat and plohl for finally getting me out to a dirt sprint event. The car was too low, aero was useless, but so much fun!

Looks like a lot of fun, bet your car is filthy!
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.
