MX5 cars, coffee & Nasho run- SEQ edition
Hey all- for those who have seen the MX5 events NSW thread, you would have seen a couple of times over the past few months where the Problem Child and I had the pleasure of hooking up with some of the Sydney forum members for the "MX5 car, coffee & nasho run".
So I thought a South East Queensland edition should be proposed! (Brisbane/Gold Coast...... and anyone else from wherever that can make it!
Sunday morning 30/07 (sorry for the short notice)
An early start to beat the inevitable traffic buildup, as well as seeing us all get home by lunchtime, so say around 6:30-7:00am
The meeting point and road to travel have not been decided on yet- thats ideas where you folks who are keen come in........ Suggestions required.
I have PM'd ManiacLachy with the idea, he's keen on the Gold Coast hinterland (I understand Springbrook Rd Is Great as are Mt Tambourine, Canungra etc), but I'm sure with forum members local knowledge there must be a lot of choices between the Goldie and Brissy (even somewhere to facilitate anyone from the Sunshine Coast)- I will look into what's around the half way mark and throw up a suggestion shortly, then a vote on a confirmed choice.

This sounds like fun to me, I'll be in. It's been a while since I've dríven the car properly so I'm looking forward to it.

I might be in for this, won't be in an MX5 but I think it'll be interesting regardless...

After some research, this is what I suggest;
6:30-7:00am meet up at the Dan Murphys carpark 53 Station Street Nerang.
From there Drive to Cunungra, via the Nerang-Beaudesert Road 22k's-
(around 20min drive.)
Left turn into Coburg Road (to re assemble if needed) then onto the Lamington National Park Road, Cunungra into the National Park;
Then onwards to O'Reilly's Retreat Dining Room for coffee and a bite (well reviewed for good food, outstanding views and they don't take bookings, so its come as you are-
the road is 36ks of sensational winding mountain roads (takes around 40 to 50 mins to drive.)
Most likely it will be on the cooler side, so come prepared!
This way we get away before too much traffic and mad bikers, we get in for coffee and something to eat before it gets too busy and we all get home with most of a lazy Sunday arvo to kick back..........

So this would be the route then: https://goo.gl/maps/fmEZw7Kv3162
I've done pretty much the same route before, it's a good drive. It's looking like I'll be going out to watch at Morgan Park on Saturday, but I won't turn down a chance for another decent drive. I should be there

Sounds like a plan to me. May end up making a long route back home via Beechmont, took some nice photos of my wife's 86 up there a year or two ago so might do the same again.

Re: MX5 cars, coffee & Nasho run- SEQ edition
But seriously, it would be great to see Gina out on the road!
I've got a friend who needs to drive his MX-5 more I'm trying to get to come along, but I haven't heard back. Also, TCR would be great to have along as well because I still haven't seen his car since Dann had his filthy ways with it.
I hope the weather holds as it is (sunny, clear and cool), I want to bring out my speed deck - which isn't used nearly as much as I'd like!
