Bolts required, engine stand mounting

Hey all,

Im in the process of getting a 1.8 mounted to a SCA stand. Does anyone know what bolt sizes are required and a good place to source them?

From Google searching I figured the normal bellhousing bolts may work but just wanted to make sure as I don't have access to them at the moment.

Looking for M12x1.5x(60-90mm) bolts potentially.

If its a bolt then it has a hole- measure the hole. You can buy bolts at Bunnings or if you are particular and require something specific you go to an engineering supplier e.g. some co specialising in fasteners - e.g. Just bolts.You might need a set screw / bolt fully threaded Most bolts today are metric sizes and if there is not a tapped hole then the thread form is not critical.

I don't have access to the engine at the moment as I'm yet to lift it out :cry:

Are Bunnings bolts enough to support the engine or should I be looking for something stronger?

I'm sure a M12 bolt around 10cm in length and some washers just in case should be sufficient though

Bunnings or Repco bolts would be fine. There won't be any significant stresses on the mount while you're using it. Just remember that those bolt holes on the back of the block are the hardest ones to reach on the whole car once the engine is back in place. If you're trying to bolt up a gearbox from underneath while you're straining and groaning on the garage floor you'll really really regret it if you left those bolt holes dirty or damaged the threads.
