Most of the guys who entered previously have done quite a few more sprint days than 3... I know I had previously done probably a 500+ laps at lakeside before my first race meet in 2015.
I would definitely suggest some more practice, but I won't discourage you from entering. You just need to be well aware of your limits, and be respectful to the other drivers. A lot of the people who would compete in that time bracket last year had to drive there cars home, but still had some good battles and chases.
Lakeside bites pretty hard if you ƒü¢k up. It could be a safer option to maybe do some more sprints and make your racing debut at the QR event later in the year. But, it's up to you.

Yes Lakeside can bite My bite was just a nip...
Whilst I do not have that many Lakeside laps beneath my seat, if work allows I will attend.

I think the time bracket you'd be in would be fairly safe. Nobody is racing for a championship, almost all of the cars in that bracket are being dríven there and home like Shane said. As long as you personally don't take unnecessary risks, it's fairly easy to just leave lots of room for people to attempt an overtake if they think they can get away with it. You may not end up at the pointy end, but you also won't end up with a bent end either.
I'll be running. It'll be my first time racing at Lakeside. Hopefully the aero advantage I've got will be more evident at Lakeside than it was at QR, or at least give me a few more opportunities to get past some faster cars and have some fun battles. QR was good, but a fast flowing track like Lakeside should be even better. Incidentally, according to my running tally I've done 499 laps of Lakeside until this point, not counting happy laps. Qualifying will be #500.
Will you guys be running the QR club day next month? I was going to be out of the country but those plans got delayed until October, so I'll be running. Might finally get a chance to drive your NB if all works out, hey? :p

The earlier you get out there and start racing, the more confident you will be. If you have done a general practice with all those sedans, and some excels and survived (I love the excels, not taking the piss) I think you will do fine. The fast cars in the general practice are most likely significantly faster than any mx5 that will be there.
I say I would get a hans device first, not only for safety, but I think it is worth some lap time...
Last weekend cost $325, and we had a qualy, and 4 races. I would take a guess it will again be something like that. Don't forget there is practice on the friday before also which is only $120 for the full day, or $80 for half.
