MX5 mania turbo build
Not long to get my car back but the team at MX5 mania. Today they sent me progress photos.
Install looks super clean.

Looking good! Very tidy too.
What specs and what's the expected power?

90% track use so looking to run at 85% capacity. Looking at 230 HP at the wheels

Re: MX5 mania turbo build
Hi
A rude question, what do you expect the total cost to be.
Cheers

Re: MX5 mania turbo build
Not rude at all. Roughly 7k including clutch.
$400 turbo second hand
$200 Intercooler
$1200 Electronics ecu wideband
$500 injectors
$900 manifold and downpipe
$1000 in bits and pieces dump pipe, Intercooler pipe, inconel studs etc
$550 clutch
Roughly 2k labour estimated. Haven't got that bill yet.

Re: MX5 mania turbo build
Thank you That's OK,I had an NA8 supercharged by a "reputable company" cost me a lot more than that and then I had to redo half of it, shoddy work to say the least with little or no after sales service. Though I was very happy with the supercharger.
Cheers

Dropped in to look at the car and it looks better than in the photos. If it drives as it looks I'll be happy. They used quality fittings.

Re: MX5 mania turbo build
Is always good to see another turbo mx5
I even see some similarities to my own DIY build.
Would be good to see the finished job in order for me to compare properly.
230hp on e85 should be easy.
Look forward to seeing more

Re: MX5 mania turbo build
I realise it was probably posted elsewhere, but what turbo and ecu are you running? The install looks fantastic, and I think you'll be very happy, you'll forget all about the idea of a supercharger!

Wish my supercharger system was as well installed. I'm still shitty after 8 years

That's why I do my own work now a days. Hate paying good money to be disappointed.
Was happy with my SC kit and even happier with my turbo.
How long did mania say it will take?

I believe it's the gt2860 S15 turbo and megasquirt 3.
I think I've taken the right path

With it been on the track I wanted to take it to the professionals. Rather spend a bit more to ensure I get it running right. I'm sure if I did it myself I would have done a great job in my own opinion but in reality, it probably wouldn't be the case.
At the end of the day judgement will be made when the car is on the track.

You should get a lot more out of that than the 220whp I think I saw you mention else where. Plus it should have room to grow should you build the motor later down the track.

Later down the track I hope to do so but for now I hope it holds up. Wife and I are expecting our second child, not sure if the wife would appreciate stretching the budget more than I already have.
