NB8A v NB8B bonnet

Postby RS2000 » Wed May 17, 2017 12:50 pm

Are NB8A & 8B bonnets the same?
I'm after one to fit an NB8A after leaving the bonnet pins undone at my last supersprint!
Cheers

They ARE differemt.

If you look at http://rev9autosport.com/garage-vary-aero-hood.html you will see that there are 2 variants for the different NB versions.
Same here: http://rev9autosport.com/stage21-nb-hood.html

I got caught out on this when I ordered a Stage21 hood for my MSM/SE from Rupewrecht, see http://mx5cartalk.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=48148&start=0

All stock NB bonnets are the same.
NC Roadie, NC Racey, ND Racey….and a 30AE

Plus several others in the bone yard...

I've used the same Garage Vary bonnet on my 98NB and on the SE.
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Did you need to do any modz to make it fit?

After my Stage21 bonnet issues and seeing that Garage Vary and Stage21 specify 2 different NB bonnet versions, I presumed that they were actually different.

For me, the Stage21 bonnet actually fit but was about 15mm too far forward so I assumed that the mount points were different.

I'd be putting more blame on the GV bonnet being the issue, rather than a difference between NB8A and NB8B factory bonnets.

I'm 99% sure they are fundamentally the same bonnet from the factory. I've swapped bonnets between cars a few times.
Including my custom made one which fit perfectly on both my 8A and 8B.

GV is fine, it was a stage21 that had misaligned mounts.

Confirmation from Max at Rev9 that there aren't different bonnets

Thanks for that, he SHOULD update his website to reflect this.

Bummer about my Stage21 bonnet I had years ago, it fit perfectly EXCEPT that the DAMN mounting bolts were 15mm too far forward which, based on this information, appears to have been a manufacturing fault rather than an NA vs NB "thing"

A lot or retailers try and capture your exact car data in case one of the products you order doesn't suit.

Good to know that all NB stock bonnets are the same.
