Hi everyone,
I've got a bucket seat recently fitted to my NA6 and it's great except the stock 3 point belt does sit too high on me unless I move the seat a bit extra forward and make sure I am sitting upright.
This is an issue by itself but now I'm looking at getting the seat to sit lower and it won't be suitable at all.
The NA6 has a long rigid stalk bolted to the tranny tunnel, I was hoping someone had some experience replacing it? Are there floppy ones that I can pop up through the lap belt hole in the side of the seat or similar?
Or perhaps some more creative solutions...

Don't think this is shorter, but it looks like it might be the non-rigid type - the black rubber sheath may also be removable, which can provide a little more flexibility if your application needs it: http://mx5mania.cart.net.au/epages/mx5m ... tbeltstalk

The NA one is a floppy one, underneath the plastic trim sheath.
It may have a thin stainless sheet under there for added strength as well, I can't remember if that was the NA one or the Capri one I had though

Thanks! I suspected that was the case but didn't want to go pulling mine apart. I'll try and hunt down an affordable one to hack up.

I acquired a seat belt receiver to pull apart - when you take the bolt out all you need to do is pull each part the right way and it will fall apart. You would have a hard time getting it back the way it came though.
Here are some images showing it sitting in the lap belt slot of a Recaro Pole Position - the seat belt now sits lower on the driver's body and doesn't sit too high as it does if you run the belt over the bolster. Much safer this way I believe - the only risk is maybe the webbing rubbing on the lap belt hole could fatigue it?

Over time the webbing will rub and evetuslly start to fray etc, but it won't be any different to how the shoulder belt rubs the seat, and buckle and grays eventually.
Just give it a look over every service, but to be honest you probably won't need to think about replacing it for another 10 to 20 years
