Re: What you named your 5
Okibi was the red NB, the NA just got called "The NA" and the SE just gets called "The SE" or "The black car".
If you had access to a car like this, would you take it back right away? Neither would I.

Re: What you named your 5
The girlfriend insists that the car must be named, but when I think of mx-5 all I think of is:

Maybe best not to tell her where the name comes from...

When Okibi's car has just been cleaned...

... it reminds me of black latex...

... so I call it "The Vamp"!
He still needs to "bronze" the Mazda emblem to match the rims though.
Don't worry about dying, worry about not living!

Bronze badge would make it look like one of those Hondas with the gold badges

How about Scarlett.
Thanks Richard. Scarlett is a beautiful name. If anything, maybe too classy for my car.
Im thinking of going with Trixie.
I feel it's more fitting and could be the name of a cheap hooker

Was always to be a budget DIY build that looks like a plain mx5 yet has a few tricks up her sleeve.
It can be said that i love giving it to trixie whenever i get the chance

We "had" to give our NC a name "MEXIMON".....kind of like Pokémon I suppose.
"Had" to give it a name as my significant other found these! www.mycarsname.com

Called after its rego BARMY, which is nothing to do with the Barmy Army and everything to do with my usual state of mind. My soon-to-be-ex (yay!

I had tried a few standard SEs as replacements for my then NB8A but they didn't seem much of an upgrade. This SE was very well converted by blackster into a great 174rwkw road car. I bought it in 2009(?) and used it for 18 months as a rep's car around country Victoria. I must have looked a sight for sore eyes to the farmers as I drove up their tracks offset to one side so I wasn't scraping the sump off. Then I started tracking it in 2010ish and started turning all sorts of parts into consumables, including a motor. Now it's mainly a track car as the pic shows. Still road registered though, but not far off the stage where it's so uncomfortable that I'll need to start trailering it to tracks.

UK since return: Standard NC2 (horrid), C200K, ND2 BBR, NC2 BBR200 (loved it), NC BBR300 (better than BARMY), V-Special, turbo NB8B (my 84th car)

I'm a definite fan of your BARMY Dave. if it wasn't for inspiration drawn from the perseverance shown in your build thread Daves SE reborn, dare I'd say My Problem Child may have not come to be after sharing similar build dramas....... visions finally realised are a great thing, dispite the dramas!

Re: What you named your 5
My partner calls it 'mistress' as I spend more time with 'it', pay 'it' more attention, touch 'it' more and spend more on 'it' than I do with her. I disagree as it never talks back or complains when I leave it in the shed alone on cold winter nights...

Im hearing ya!!! My wife refers to the underbonnet duck in mine as "jewellery" that I bought for the problem child

I remember you touching on changing the mistress colour to a Kawasaki candy apple green, but I do have to say, in her current blue suit, she really looks the goods
