Robbins Roof

Postby Robbo » Fri Apr 28, 2017 3:33 pm

Hi guys,
I want to replace the original blue vinyl roof on my 10AE with a blue mohair one. Has anyone replaced their roof with a Robbins from
the US? Are they any good and do they fit up like the OEM? I have come across a place in the UK called All hoods Ltd located in Essex. They have given me a price of $585 including shipping minus VAT for a mohair one with the heated glass window. Has anyone heard of or used their hoods? I have located a guy who can install the hood and the total all up price of $1385. Any ideas or suggestions please. I hear the Robbins hoods fit well but at a cost. I have no idea about the one from UK. Replacing the roof is expensive. Are there any reliable places where I can get a roof that is not going to cost an arm and a leg.
Cheers Robbo

You may want to post on MX5Nutz to get feedback on the UK supplier.

I have a Mahura top on my car and it is very high quality so that's another option for you (but not sure of the landed price now here in Australia).

Yeah, buying & replacing soft tops is an expensive job. Rang around in 2004 when I needed to do it & it was nearly $2k. Fortunately since then a number of aftermarket suppliers have appeared like Prestige Tops, who also started in the UK & are now here in East Bentleigh, Victoria <www.prestigetops.com.au/>. Haven't heard of All Hoods in Essex, but think I might be inclined to deal with a supplier in Australia when the product is such an unknown quantity & costs $600.
$585 for a blue mohair soft top shipped to Aust is a good price, & note on ebay All Hoods quote $750 approx shipped, but perhaps that includes 20% VAT.
Otherwise, unfortunately not much has changed in Victoria since you first considered the job in 2010.
