small update, finished take in the ac compressor, the bracket the was on it was a real b to get off, but i did and now defs say this ac kit was a retro fit, or even a diy ahaha, one of the bolts that was holding the compressor to the bracket was snapped and just sitting there, others were in a B of a spot to get to.

but since that was out i took the rest of the wiring for the ac out of the car, all i need now is a new belt for power steering. alternator belt went back on (still fairly new, no cracks or anything).

Got around to installing new heater core housing after cleaning up the carpet, used new rubber hole plugs as well since old ones were very warn and hard. Also mounted the evap delete pipe(not sure what its called) and it came together pretty nicely.

comparing my old heart box to the nb one, my old one seemed to be missing small bits like spring and clips. other then that straight bolt on, Nb heat core are aluminium and are stronger in terms of the outlet pipes. plus sinces its a new system im sure its in better condition then the factory one that was in my car. looks better too

after that got to finally install my silicon hose kit from mx5 mania, they look great, keen to see how they perform.

Alas No...... but mate in order to not have my wife take to my genitalia with a potato peeler- When I hit the bank account for the never ending vehicular related expense I try and have her believe there is!!!!

Be careful using copper anti seize on aluminium you will get electrolysis ,use nickle antiseize such as "neverseez" or locktite antiseeze. Ask me how I know.

ok i guess its update time again

So had some time to do a bit off work on the 5. Got myself a new power steering belt and got the plugs to cover the holes in the firewall from the evap system. pretty straight forward. put it all back together and plugged the ignition back in. after priming the pump a few times she started right up At first it was loud but after 30mins or so the lifters finally bleed out and it ran quite and smooth. next up is to run a flush thru the cooling system to get the last of the old coolant out.

Also had time to finish installing Suzuki Cappuccino washer bottle. relocated to the usual spot and extended the harness and lines. i think it cleans up some much needed space in the engine bay also put in some usdm tribute washer nozzles. spray patten is way better then stock and they look better as well

Great, I oprdered the tribute washers from Mazda # E112-67-510 and they didnt fit and they wont restock,, and they are standard washers

The NA8 extended units were $42 each

Wheels magazine virtually built a Camira in about 1981 from parts. Total cost was about $100,000. So the $1M in 2017 dollars seems about right.

Ive decided since me dash was out to restore the dash frame as I've seen a lot to have rust on them, seeing that I've seen rust in other parts of the car it would be good to check and fit it.

anyways i pulled it out and it looked like this.

The bottom didn't have as much as i was expecting but it was defiantly worse at the top, anyways decided to try a product call "Rust Guard: Rust converter" which i just brushed on and wow this stuff worked awesome, pretty much saw the rust disappear and run off the frame.

I applied it twice and both time i hit it with a wire brush before hand, it came out awesome ill let the pics do the talking.

Pretty much brand new
anyways I've bought some more rust guard black paint to paint the dash frame to prevent more rusting in the future. hopefully net update everything will be back in the car.

Also picked up some genuine red reflectors only got a pair but i grabbed them since there pretty hard to come by. Swapped my back ones over and it looks way better then the ugly orange it had before also gave it a bit of a clean.

ok update time

i got around to painting my dash frame to stop rust from happening again, i just used some rust guard black paint and just brushed it on, i think it turned out awesome. Put the dash back together and installed the dash.

Decided to let the rpf1s go and when back to stocks for now. borrowed a set of stocks with good tyres until i decided what i wanna do with wheels.

finally got the car to the point where i could get a blue slip done, so back it out chucked on the tas plates that i still had and drove it down to get it done. the guy doing the blue slip was pretty impressed on how clean it was for a car this old.

passed blue slip, paid for rego and green slip drove home with no plates so i could find a way to install them when i got home

I found a stock radio with a cd player and installed it, it seemed that it didn't work so i installed my stock radio with cd player but that didn't work either. at first i thought it would have need a grounding issues but after looking at it some more it turned out that some how both stock radios had something wrong with them. I wanted the look of a stock radio because i hate the look of aftermarket radios and plus im not running a huge sound system or anything so i decided to go the route of a nb8b radio install. made a harness that kept the factory connectors in the car and mad up some mounting points for the radio. after a bunch of trimming and cutting this is v1 of the install.

while i was doing all of this i suspected that my door return spring had broken because i found it did open all the time when i unlocked it. opened it up and i was right. bought a new one from mx5 mania and all was good.

while i had the door cards off i decided to put in some oem speaker cover i had bought. i think they look awesome and works really well with the interior.

now for the engine bay, i decided to do a few flushes and clean out some of the built up gunk from the engine being run for 23 years, I've had some liqi moly fuel additive running in the car for the last tank and since that was almost done i gave everything else a good treatment.

first i used some Subaru upper engine clean, followed the instructions and most likely gonna keep using this stuff for every service i do until it stops smoking so much ahah (thats what i would do on my Subaru when i had one) after that maybe once a year.

I've used some liqi moly engine detox on my engine, I've seen this stuff do wonders to other cars (and mx5s) before in terms of compression and engine cleaning. since the oil only had 500 or so kms on it, i decided to see what this stuff would do.

followed the instructions was was pretty surprised on how dirty the engine oil was once i drained it.

after all that i finally ended with a radiator flush, i also cleaned out my overflow tank in a attempt to make it look clean again and it does but i might end up ordering a new one

i also did the charcoal canister delete while i was in there. makes the engine bay look a bit better.

talking about making the engine bay a bit better, I've grabbed hold of a genuine mazdaspeed airbox (Still need to buy a filter for it), it looks amazing in the engine bay

also decided to grab new leads since my ones decided it was time to give up. i wanted to replace them ngk ones but i didn't want the blue color in the engine bay and black looked a bit plain. i decided to go with magnecor competition red leads, i think these look awesome in the engine bay. may be bit expensive but i think it works really well with the theme of the car.
