NA harness mounting with a BD roll bar

Sorry, I call BS on that.

There must be variation between tops, Ed. Mine is an early NB8A top. The car is an NA8. The BD bar is the standard NB one. When I installed the eye bolts the glass window hovered only a couple of mil above the tops of the bolts and tapped the glass driving over things like tram tracks. I took the bolts straight out and they stayed out. You might note that wrapping the belts around the bottom plate of the bar instead lowers their mounting point by 20-25mm. That might be enough to solve your problem wrt belt downslope from shoulder to mounts.

Don't think so Manga. As I said above, it is certainly a possibility, and I can understand why you would respond the way you have - that removes the possibility.

The GM1 had a replacement top from I think an NB8B, but it seemed identical to the original. The new GM (where the BD is now) seems the same, I don't know if it has been replaced but think it is the original. However, I have never really looked closely to see if there are differences in the glass window softtops over the NB8A/B sold here.

My glass sits (always has) on or nearly on top of the eyebolts normally, it is something I am conscious of but other than trying to let the top down without it falling on the bolts, I have never worried about it.

From what you describe our windows are sitting in similar spots, just that I have taken the view that if it was going to be a problem a) they wouldn't have designed it that way, and/or b) there would have been a fix from BD, and/or c) it would be known as a problem in a community such as this.

I am now interested to see if this discussion draws out any first-hand experiences of broken windows on these eyebolts. Maybe I (or my windows at least) have just has a charmed existence!

Good thinking about my belts, but that issue is with the racecar, which has a relatively high harness bar between the rear legs of the cage.

I have a BD roll bar and a glass window. Like Green Machine says, the glass doesn't touch.
But to be sure I put a 2" piece of rubber in between the eyes.
Its a section they use for boat gunwales and docks. Got it from Clark Rubber.
Easy, cheap and it works. No rattles and no broken glass.
I also have those pool noodles (cut in half down the length) contact glued to spots around my garage where the doors can touch.
Again, cheap and it works well in stopping knocking off paint from the door edges.
