Dual oil coolers - effect on oil pressure?

So my AN-10 oil filter relocation kit just turned up. But when I unscrewed the fittings, the other side of them was dramatically "stepped", almost like an AN-8 to AN-10 adapter. Is this normal? Does it matter? Or should I send it back?

Also, dual oil coolers - does anyone run them? I know they are rarely needed, but just say you already had a big radiator, and you still wanted maximum cooling headroom. Would running dual oil coolers put too much strain on the oil pump from the extra lines, etc?

Lots of aftermarket adaptors have significant steps like yours has and I take a Die Grinder and smooth them and port them out.

Dual coolers are fine? An r34 drift car I recently finished ended up having a single caller for simplicity however PWR had recommended twin smaller coolers as a good option, and suggested that it was a good option often. Also the pressure is regulated so the gears shouldnt be under more pressure.

Doesn't the FD use dual oil coolers too?

In an MX5, it's difficult enough to figure out where to install ONE oil cooler - I've never seen anyone install TWO!

Routing the hoses is a pain in the butt too so accommodating two sets of hoses and fittings would be a huge challenge, there's just not enough room.

ninerwfo, what brand is your oil filter relocation kit?
I'm concerned that it may be a cheap eBay kit because of the colour of those fittings.
If they are cheap aluminium fittings, they'll most likely leak - consider buying quality fittings instead (quality aluminium fittings are heavier than the cheap Chinese ones but you really need to hold both of them to feel the difference).

Thanks heaps Dan, much appreciated. And yep Lokeil, it could be a cheap Chinese kit, although the fittings are heavier than another Chinese fitting I have on the bench. Will make sure to use sealant, and the alloy shifter...

Don't use any silicon or sealant on any oil pressure fittings, if any excess is squeezed into fitting you know where that is going to end up!

+1 for no sealant on AN fittings. I didn't use any sealant for my basic oil and water feed lines and none of them leaked. Just had them nice and tight. Would be a shame for a bit of teflon tape to block an oil path and then cause further complications.
