Sp owners with Boost Gauge

Postby roshmx5 » Sat Mar 11, 2017 5:29 pm

Hi members
Have hooked a boost gauge up and plumbed it straight into the manifold. I have done the t piece mod. My gauge sometimes goes up to 14psi as I am accelerating, especially in lower gears first and second.
Is this normal and have I connected boost gauge to the correct place to get a reading.

You're going to have a bent rod or missing ring lands, Id take it easy if I were you.

Thanks Dan so the gauge is hooked up in the right spot, so something is spiking my boost.

Agreed with Dann. Remove the MBC and check boost readings.

Instead of winding up the boost with the MBC, consider looking into ECU replacements to run more boost, more safety.

I don't have a MBC only the t piece mod. And people say it may give you a 2 psi increase.

Whatever it is, remove and check boost levels on your stock set-up.

I would have thought connecting it to somewhere on the intake plenum is more appropriate, ie. after the throttle butterfly.
