JAX Tyres Deal on Bridgestones

Postby madmort » Mon Mar 06, 2017 6:59 pm

Jax Tyres have the 4 for the price of 3 deal on for Bridgestone Potenza RE003 in Vic. Just after I bought a set from Bridgestone with their deal, Jax does them cheaper! How does that work?

I'm talking about 205 45R16. They are $185 from Jax (were $179), $199 from Bridgestone on a deal from both. My only confusion is how does an independent out price the manufacturer!

Pretty simple. One wishes to make more profit off you. Works for them 99% of the time due to their brand name.

On the Bridgestone vs. Jax pricing, the biridgestone shops are still franchises. So Jax and Bridgestone are essentially the same thing, both using their franchisers (franchisees?) buying power to get good deals from the importer.
Madmort, I wasn't being facetious, I just spend $800 on michelin n4 ps2s when I could've had the re003 (same treadwear and basically an equivalent tyre) for a lot less.

No worries smy0003, ouch! The thing that gripes me is I have heard moaning that there is no margin in tyres. They don't sell them at a loss that's for certain.

Please be assured that it's a pretty tough game.

These sorts of deals, irrespective if through a Jax or Bridgestone outlet are funded through/by the tyre manufacturer.

On a side note, I believe a tyre manufacturer may have their eye on buying Jax.

Michelin? They're the only one (besides Bridgestone, who already have a number of branded stores) I can think of with enough mainstream appeal to warrant buying out a giant like JAX.

No. A smaller (but still significant) player. At this stage they will be keeping stores Jax branded.

Seems public now anyway...

They'll all be turned into Hankook Masters stores.
